Not an insult at all.

Say that to the ticks, mosquitoes, gnats who might carry lyme disease or coinfections!

I want to let you know that if you are on abx right now, you should not fear going outside, walking in the grass, having a picnic or walking in the woods.

I'm pretty sure you can go and enjoy a lovely spring and summer and not fear tick bites. [Smile]

You are covered by the abx so go live your life as best as you can, if you have the strength and desire.

I just realized this today. If I'm on abx, I should not fear walking my dog, hugging my dog, taking a walk barefooted in the grass, etc.

The damage is already done, so let's go have fun!

(At least I hope I'm right!)

[Smile]

I would think we could still get an added co-infection like Bart? Correct me if I am wrong.

I am heading out for a hike today to see the wild iris but I am going on a wide fire road.

It depends on the antibiotics. If you're on Lyme meds, and get bitten, you could still get Bart, Babs, Ehrlichia, Tularemia, RMSF, etc.

I had this discussion with my LLMD recently when I got some kind of bite or rash, and we realized that the meds I'm on would not protect me against everything. Fortunately, it turned out to be something else.

I know one shouldn't live and given that I was bitten while on cement, I know it can happen anywhere. But I still avoid grasses, hiking trails, gardening, etc. Just my personal decision.

I do love the title of your post, however!

I've often felt like saying bite me to the ID ducks.

There's been a lot of biting going on on this board today!

I'm not so sure about being bit again. I'm pretty sure each time I was bit and not on abx (before I knew what was going on), it was like being knocked down progressively.

Is it believed that with each bite it increases the bacterial lode? Sure seemed that way to me. Now, what about myself and my high bacterial lode on abx, fighting off another bite? Not sure, but would like to know [Smile]

Best,

canbravelyme.

I guess I just wanted to say to everyone, we can't live in fear (or is it that we don't live anymore for fear of being bitten again)?

I so want my life back and every day is a blessing and I want to take a bite out of each and every one of my days.

I will not let the fear of a tick bite stop me anymore. I only have so many days left and while I'm on abx, I'm going to go chomp them down as fast as I can!

My husband misses me, my dog misses me playing with her outside.

I'm going out right after I take my abx. Ticks be damned! I already lost too much and too many years to them already. [cussing]

I refuse to give up my life or my lovely country home for fear anymore.

Just my take.......how much sicker can I get than I've been w/o dying? I'm game to live, even if it kills me. [bonk]

I know a woman whose main Lyme problem was her optic nerve, and she was on Biaxin and something else for that. She took a walk, got bitten again,
and ended up with stroke like symptoms on her left side. Which I have taken to heart.
Probably does depend on the ABX though. Its another one of those unexplored areas of Lyme.

TTPH,

I read your title and thought you were hoping that if someone on abx bit you, you might receive some of their abx through the bite. [Big Grin]

I'm with you and TC, don't live in fear of the tick. You can stand in the middle of NYC and get bit by a mosquito, fly, flea all of which can carry lyme and other illnesses.

Infection is like computer viruses, you can have all the abx protection available but some new virus could come along for which the abx are not effective.

We could become agoraphobic if we really tried to avoid all the possibilities.

Like Elizabeth Edwards says about her breast cancer "I'm going to live until I die!"

So gang, Let's Live Until We Die!
