I'm heading to the doctor (my GP duck, actually) this afternoon after one too many days with this problem. My llmd is hours away and said I should see regular doc for this. Ugh. I hate going in there.

Whenever I look down or to the right my left ear is FILLED with the throbbing swooshing of my heartbeat. It's very clearly my heartbeat and nothing else - no clicks, whines, anything. Just swoosh, swoosh so loud it makes me nauseated.

Wondering if anyone else has this and if you were able to resolve it.

And this is my last post of the day, I swear! Hee!

I had this once quite badly...it was after (or was it during) strep throat, sinus infection and ear infection. I was on Zythromax I think.

It was especially hard to sleep like that. [Frown]

I've had that before, and it was always when my Blood Pressure was high... Hopefully you've been to the doc by now..

Went to duck and she told me it was nothing - probably just because my lymph nodes are swollen as they always are. She has no idea why they're always swollen and seemed uninterested in trying to find out why. "It could be lots of reasons."

Like... maybe... LYME?????

She went on to tell me that my llmd is probably a quack b/c they're in NC and there's no lyme in NC.

Also, she had never heard of herxheimer reactions and couldn't imagine why my llmd wanted me to be on lecithin or taurine.

I feel like this is probably nothing, but with my slight case of facial weakness (my right side of my face droops ALL THE TIME) and the head pressure I've been feeling, it warrants checking out.

She said lots of people have it and it's nothing to worry about. She said come back if I have a more pronounced facial palsy.

She also went on to tell me that Lyme is something people cling to because they don't feel well and they need a huge drama in their life. They use it as an excuse to not work and things like that. I very quickly reminded her that I've never asked her for so much as a pain pill (despite her trying to push narcotics on me) and she said, "well maybe not YOU."

I'm never going back there.

Why can't my llmd be local instead of hours away????

She doesn't sound like a very good doctor.

Hi Sarah,

I hope you are not doubting yourself now based on this appt. with such an ignorant dr! I know it's very easy to begin to question everything when someone with 'authority' challenges it all. It's good to be open though to other opinions, but keep your head on girl!

It's a shame that you felt you had to prove you are the real thing by not asking for pain meds. The fact that this became a moral issue rather than taking care of the pain is pathetic.

I have had that heartbeat in the ear thing when I was at my worst, or when I am herxing. I think it's caused by inflammation. It's usually correlated with doing poorly systemically - all the symptoms being flared.

I would NEVER go back to this doc!

Anneke
