My appt with him is on Monday and I'm not sure what to expect. I have been trying to tolerate the biaxin/plaq regimen from Dr. D but am having a difficult time. I keep getting awful stomach aches and chest pressure - Dr. D says they are from lyme dieoff but I wonder if it's not the meds? How can you tell?
I'd just like to know what I can expect at my first appt. Will I be getting bloodwork and lyme testing done? Is that out of pocket also? Also, I know he does mainly oral and not IV, but what if I can't tolerate the orals? Will he do IV or IM in that case? I just don't want to go and have him rx the biaxin/plaq again as it's so much $ out of pocket for me right now as I'm not working. He's my last hope though as he's the only LLMD anywhere close by....
Thanks for any information. I just wonder if I will ever be on the road to recovery I'm pretty depressed about this whole thing.

I was a patient of Dr. P's for almost a year, from December 2002 to November 2003.
I only left him because he recommended I see Dr. H in New York becuase Dr. H had more experience with babesia.
You see, Dr. P is always thinking of the patient.
Dr. P is very, very good. He is conservative, and is very careful NOT to have an antibiotic hurt a patient. He was the most conservative of all the five llmd's I have seen.
He is very approachable, easy to talk to, and always a phone call away when you need him.
He has a sense of humor too.
And he's cute.

Don't worry. You can refuse any meds you want to from ANY dr!!
I could not tolerate the plaquinel either. Stomach pains galore. No loss...I got well anyway.

He treats my husband. Twinklette, you could not be in better hands. One impressive individual (actually all three lyme docs that I have dealt with are)!

I am also a member of the fan club. True, he isn't fond of IV (he feels that his patients can do just as well with orals-safer and cheaper).
He is brilliant, kinda nerdy but loved by his patients.
Tell him your financial situation and he will only get the bloodwork that is essential--he really takes this into account for meds too.
You said you have stomach problems...I can tell you that the first six months of treatment for me was all about killing the lyme in my gut...
I would get terrible pains/nausea and thought I was dying. After six months of treatment, my stomach/gut was much better.
I believe the Bb was deep in my bowels and stomach.
Make sure you do the dr. B stuff along with any treatment> Great probiotics, No sugar, water water water, keep you bowels moving, reduce stress, excersise to whatever your level, sleep a lot.
