I have been on various antibiotics for 1.5 years, including 6 months of IV (rocephin and zithromax)and rifampin for Bartonella but have not improved. I have not really gotten worse, but no improvement. My LLMD recently asked me to test for heavy metals of which it came back that mercury is extremely elevated in my system. I have an appt. with my LLMD tomorrow and we will discuss general chelation treatment but I'm really interested in amalgam (cavity) removal. I want to hear from anyone who has actually gotten better after removal of mercury fillings....I have 10+ in my mouth and want to know if it's worth it..please only respond if you have experience and can say for sure that the mercury removal helped or didn't help. Thanks so much!!

Well,

I am in the process now of having them removed and I have alot to go(9). But my husband had all of his removed and has been chelating during (Vitamin C IV) and after removal with EDTA, DMPS & DMSA. We have noticed a HUGE improvement with him. Also he doesn't have nearly as much of a yeast issue as he used too.

I do think mercury has alot to do with keeping us all sick. How can you expect to heal when you have a deadly poison in your body and is leaking more posion everytime you chew?

My vote.... have them removed and chelate heavily for several months afterwards.

Good Luck,
Lisi

After 2 years of treatment I also stopped improving. My infections were very low but we seemed to not be able to completely eliminate them.

My homeopathic doc, who also does a form of computerized muscle testing, finally said it was time to push out the metals. Up till this point my body wanted nothing to do with chelation, that is why we held off for so long, but metals were showing up as the reason for my yeast not leaving and the yeast was hiding infections. Every time we started to kill of the yeast infections would flair. I was babs free for 6 months and a big kill of yeast caused a 2 week acute malaria like flair of babs.

We are using oral chelation agents and there has been marked improvement but also little flairs of the infections as the metal leave. Removing metals is no fun either, the drainage from the connective tissue can be very uncomfortable.

Is is OK to start general chelation treatment (e.g. DMSA) before getting the fillings removed?

In 1991 I had Lyme symptoms for the third time in my life, but we didn't know what it was.

I had my amalgams out. I don't remember how many, but every molar had one. I went to a biological dentist and took the supplements he recommended to eliminate the metals.

After each removal, I felt fluish for a few days. Glutathione helped tremendously with that.

I also went on an anti-candida diet, which I think is healthy for anyone since you watch your sugar intake.

I put my Lyme into remission until 2003 never even knowing I had Lyme! I was only symptomatic when I was pregnant.

I got sick in 2003 and went on doxy for 21 days. I think that is what activated my symptoms again.

Opinions vary on that. My doctors says that his office successfully chelates lots of people with fillings (using DMSA I think). HOwever, the whole thing shoudl be done under a doctor's supervision so if yours thinks otherwise, listen to them- they might have different experience and might use different support protocols than mine does.

Nicolette,

I just had my amalgams removed this past weekend and don't have any experience to report yet.

I will say that I had gotten to a point that no matter how many abx, supplements or herbs I took, I was still having so many neurological symptoms. My LLMD too, thought that it was time to address the metals.

I'm so very glad I did this. Not sure why but I know this is going to help me turn a corner.

Do a search on Gigi or Selma. There is enough reading for weeks and all of your questions should be answered.

Best of luck.
