Sen. Schumer being treated for Lyme disease

Sen. Chuck Schumer, D-N.Y., is undergoing a 21-day treatment of antibiotics for Lyme disease, the Associated Press reports.

Schumer told the wire service he thinks he contracted the disease from a tick that attached itself to his left leg while he conducted news conferences on dangerous dams in the Hudson Valley on May 7.

According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, the symptoms of Lyme disease typically include a skin rash, fatigue, headaches and fever. If not treated, it can spread to the joints, the heart and nervous system.

Among the CDC's web resources on the disease are pages on:

* Prevention.
* Symptoms.
* Diagnosis.
* Treatment.

And did his doctor use the IDSA guidelines on diagnosis, I wonder?

Must be nice to get treatment so quickly after the bite.

Yeah...ONE dose!

Did he get a bull's eye rash???

Okay, I see he did get a bull's eye rash.

AND he gets 21 days of abx to PREVENT Lyme disease.

I do hope he doesn't get ill much later on and he gets a 'Fibromyalgia' or 'Chronic Fatigue Syndrome' dx!!! Or worse!!

I don't understand the present world.

Do you know that this, in general stupid story, have been republished within a few hours by 63 journals and magazines all over the US? And we have so much trouble to make one journal to publish something honest.

Check it for yourself:

Google finds

I mean perhaps at the time you open this Google link there will be more than 63.
