My IV port is bleeding a little underneath the clear sticker thing they put over it. I have had this in for around 5 days now, with no bleeding, and I have not moved it at all.

Should I be concerned? is there something I should do?

Hey Skyler --
I was told that my site could bleed on and off, but if anything changed or got worse (as you say yours has) I'd call my visiting nurse company and have them look at it. Are you using a visiting nurse? The place I go has someone on call 24/7. I'd at least give them a buzz.

If not, I'd bring it to your MD tomorrow. It's too precious to mess with. Maybe you just need to get a new one put in. I heard those short peripheral lines only last 3-5 days. I have a peripheral midline that might last 4 weeks. and I'm hoping it does.

YOU TAKE CARE OF THIS!

I was told by home health nurse-"A dime is fine, a quarter call" So the amount of bleeding made the difference as to whether I should call, but I was also told to call "no matter what my concern was"

So...it's up to you. Even the home health agency would rather you be safe than sorry. It makes them look bad if anything goes wrong. And it makes you feel bad, real bad, if anything goes wrong.
So err on the side of caution.
