Hello,
I benefit a lot from this forum. I always got helps from many of you.

Now I need some opinions again.

My just-turn-3-yrs has been on zithomax for 4 months with seeing a very famous LLDM for kids.

Even before diagnosis and treatment, She only complaints 2-3 times of joint pain, 1 of which was waking up during middle night from leg pain.

besides occasion joint pain, she had several ear infections and lung infection. She screamed in day care. Her mood swung a lot.

She had constipations.

After treatment, She has low grade fever (98..9- 99.5) some days. She still has constipation until a week ago. She is always happy.

But start from last week, She complained joints pain in both legs, knees, fingers. Last night she kept crying all night for legs pain.
The constipation has been improved a lot.

I almost thought she was almost fine until this happened. I feel so bad seeing her struggling.

Could anybody give me some hints?

Should I contact her LLMD immediately?

Tons of thanks

Why did she stop treatment? Was she symptom free at that point??

So sorry your 3 yr old is having so much trouble.

I'm not asking the Dr's name, but I hope that he is the one that we all feel is the best Lyme Pediatrician.
Unfortunately, some people have been told that certain drs were LLMDs or famous for treating Lyme when their treatment protocol was not adequate for chronic cases.

How long do you think she has had Lyme?
Did she have a positive test?
Are these new symptoms?

Any significant change in a child's condition should be reported to your child's Lyme Dr.

You said she was "crying all night for leg pain."
In my opinion, her Dr definitely needs to know.
Let us know what he says.
We care!!

I am not clear on this.

Is she still on zithromax?

Could she be having a "monthly" herx?

I would call the LLMD asap and see what he/she says.

Get plenty of water in her.

Keep up the probiotics.

Both of my children are on zithromax for Lyme.

So far.....so good.

Hugs,

Geneal

What pain medication are you giving her?

Thank you all very much for your replys.

She is still on ABX and she seemed to have no monthly herx before.

This morning another mom in my church said growing pain which remained me maybe it's the reason. But my daughter also complained fingers pain which held me guessing of growing pain.

Also she still complained pain this morning but she could walk. We went the church and she was a little bit crumpy. She ate OK. She did't cry today and when I asked her about the pain she sometimes said she still has and sometimes has no. She is napping now.

I haven't give her any pain medicine yet. I didn't like taking it myself and didn't want to give to my kids too.

Sure sounds like a herx to me.

My daughter had similar reactions to zith. Leg pain---not wanting to stand on her legs. Joint pain, too.

I don't think it is too unusual to have this happen at 4 months....of course a quick check with your doc is always a good idea.

As to "growing pains" that is just a great excuse for kids with lyme. I used to say that to my now 15 yr old when she complained about knee pain 5 yrs ago........"oh, knock it off, it's just growing pains" was the response from me, her dumb mom! Now, she was on her way to being diagnosed bipolar and it turns out she has at least lyme and bart.

Consider children's Tylenol, which is acetaminophen.
(The store brand is fine.)
Do not give a child aspirin.

No wonder she is grumpy.
I'm grumpy and grouchy too when everything hurts.

This will help alot when she sleeps.

You should call the LLMD on Monday and let him know what's happening. She sounds like my daughter did before she started treatment. The LLMD needs to know this development in case he wants to change her medicine.

Called the office this afternoon. A nurse returned the call. She said it sounds a herxing.
However She will tell the doc tomorrow morning and give me a call back.

I will update once I hear from the doc.

Thank you all very much

Take care yourself,

Shara

Talked with the doc this morning. The doc thought it's herxing and nothing will change to her medicine.

Thank you all again for your caring,

Take care,
