I was wondering if anyone has been helped by them. I leave for an ID doc appt in an hour and wondering if this may help me... Any thoughts appreciated

Yes, Yes and more Yes for me! I have now been on them for 5 weeks @ 2X per week and I have felt sooo much better. This week has been the first week since last Dec. that I have not had ANY naps during the day...still drag slightly late afternoon, but no naps are wonderful!
My LLMD said it takes anywhere from 3-6 weeks (at my dosage) to see any benefits from the B-12.
I do them at home and it is great. The B-12 and needles (you fill yourself) only cost $ 15- for the 5 weeks (very small price in this war we wage). I have 25 gauge needles and hardly feel the prick.

I just finished two weeks of B12 injections--now I start three days a week, as prescribed by my LLMD. I have not noticed any changes yet.

Thanks guys! Do you need any specific low levels in your blood? Melissa

Is it wise to take B12 injections if your vitamin profile does not reveal a deficiency but reveals a borderline low???
Are there dangers in taking B12 if it is not really needed but only seemingly presumed to be needed???
Where do you do the injection? Is it easy or hard??
I am asking because my LLDM prescribed this but I have no one to teach me how to do it and my B vitamins overall are on borderline low, although LLMD predicted they'd be low in 6 months time.

It is my understanding, that under your Dr.'s advice, B-12 in itself cannot harm you. Not meaning if you have an allergy to it ro something else.
Injections are a cinch. And believe you me when I say I am a BIG BABY when it comes to needles that is putting it mildly!
I have the 25 gauge needle, fill it up to where it should be, shoot a dab out the top of needle to make sure there is no air, and then inject under the skin.
I take an icecube for about 3-5 mins and numb the spot I am going to inject. My LLMD has me do it in thigh or tummy (more to pinch LOL). Grab up some skin like you are pinching it, and inject the needle under the skin. 20 secs if that and you are done. I rub the spot for a couple of mins, and have had no bruising.

Hia-
I do know as I said before my LLMD said anywhere from 3 - 6 weeks to see any benefit from them, if they are going to help you.
Hang in there a few more weeks and see how you feel!

I love my B-12 shots, too. They're easier than you would expect to do, but if you have questions or need a demonstration, you could take it to your pharmacist or to your LLMD.
Don't be surprised if your urine is pink while you're on B-12 injections - wish someone had told me to expect that!

Thanks for the answers!
My LLMD is out of state so that's out. My pharmacist is not knowing how to do that to show me. My GP is not interested.
So I just need someone to show me how to do it, seems easy enough. I'll keep trying. Ive had the script over a month not knowing how to get it done!

Interesting replies. I've been on the B-12 twice a week for 2 months. Can't really tell if they help because I'm not sure how I'd feel without them.
The interesting reply said to be ready for pink pee. I just started rifampin which is supposed (and does) make my pee orange. I'm wondering what a combination of pink and orange make!

How to give injection...
1. alchol swipe the area to be injected..mid thigh is good.
2. alcohol the top of the B12 bottle.
3. Take the needle and tilt the bottle at a 90 degree angle and pull the medicine up through the syringe. Tap the syringe to make sure no air bubbles.
3. You insert the needle in a dart like fashion and slowly inject the area. A little medicine will leake out when you remove the needle. Dispose of your needle properly You really dont need to worry about the injection site. You dont want to put it in a vain but that is very unlikely.
My neice also did it in my arm. You may bruise and that is normal too.

i injected 2 bottles full of B12 co....
i saw NO improvement in me whatsoever; shots were painful for me! had plenty of tummy but could NOT pinch & inject myself while doing so. i was bruised constantly but nothing like LOVENOX, blood thinner after hip/knee replacement surgery!
later had another blood test; i believe it was 1000 or whatever it was; that's all i can remember about this ordeal!

Why use a 25 gauge when a 29 will do the same thing less painfully? Check it out!!
I can't do without my B-12 shots. I only take them about twice a week now.

Methylcobalamin is the best form of B12 for Lyme patients and can help repair damage. You get it from a compounding pharmacy. Email me if you need a good pharmacy.
Most use 1cc per day or every other day for 6 months.
Cyanocobalamin is lesser quality but can be helpful.
oral forms are not strong enough.

Like condor said, I use methylcobalamin about two or three times a week, and it's been really helpful for me.
Increases stamina and mental clarity.
I definitely recommend it.

Guess I should clarify that mine is methylcobalamin (I can't spell, sorry) also, and it's preservative free...

Does anyone know whether it is more effective to do these methyl shots IM or sub-cutaneous?
I had been doing IM injections last year and recently started doing them sub-cutaneously.
Thanks!

The real value comes not from the energy boosting effects IMHO, but from using the right B12 to support bypassing each person's unique genetic defects in the methylation cycle. If you don't methylate, the junk never gets out of the trunk and we hold on to it. I am learning more now about genetics and what they can suggest in terms of the best B12 option.

How do you get the B12 for the shots...is it a script??? Sounds like I could really benefit...and after everything else I have done shots dont scare me at all!!

I love these things. They really made me feel good/energetic when I first started on them (the energy evened out eventually and was less noticable, but then again I was in better health by then). I get mine compounded by McGuffs Compounding Pharmacy in SoCal and it's about $35 for a huge number of doses (lasts a couple of months or something).

I take oral B-12 (1000 mcg/day). I used to take the shots, but have gotten the same benefit from oral drugs. If you take the oral B-12, you must take it with a B-complex (I think for the best absorption).
