Hi everyone,
As you know, I'm taking my 1 year old to Dr. J next week.

I'm just wondering if he has co-ifections, what abx are usually given to children?

I'm sure he'll put him back on Amoxicillian for a while, but I understand that doesn't treat the other infections.

Thanks for your help!

My daughter took amoxicillin for her Lyme and she is currently being treated with Rifampin and Azithromycin for her Bartonella.

I did a lot of research for the Bartonella treatment because children cannot take tetracycline or any of the other cycline family members because it will ruin their teeth - even the teeth that hadn't come through yet.

My LLMD didn't have a lot of experience treating children and I gave him the information that I had found and he agreed it would be fine. And it was fine...95% better in 4 months!

Hope this helps! [Smile]

Hi
Both of my lymekids are Dr. J's patients. They both tested positive for coinfections and were appropriately treated. One of my kids had babesia and one had bartonella. It would be hard for me to comment on meds. There are some abx that aren't used on the little ones...my lyme kids were older when they were being treated. Your baby is in very good hands and I wish you all the best....
