Hi everyone,

I have read about this lab in one of my lyme books and also on-line. It is supposedly rated just under Igenex for lyme testing.

This is the lab my LLMD uses. He said he uses it because it accepts most insurances. He doesn't treat on test results but he said sometimes if we have a positive result it would be easier to deal with insurance to pay for meds.

My Igenex labs are IND and positive for Bartonella. I will be having blood drawn on Thursday and it will be going to this lab.

Has anyone here ever used it or know anything about it?

Thanks, kit

My LLMD uses it, and my blood was sent to Stonybrook when I was evaluated at Columbia Univ. Medical Center for lyme.

I think it is a good lab. Here's the website:
www.path.sunysb.edu/labs/ticklab/TICKLAB.htm

Basically, when my blood was drawn on the same day and went to 3 different labs, I got 3 different results. They all gave clues though as to what was going on.

Good luck!

Timaca

Thanks Timaca,

I am surprised there aren't others who have used this lab..for insurances purposes.

I guess I will find out soon enough.

Thanks again, kit

Hey KitKat how are you? We started with the same LLMD are you still making that trip?

My doctor in NY uses Stonybrook along with alot of the doctors on Long Island. Although my Lyme test was negative my erlichiosis test was positive. It does have a good reputation. If you do a search here you will find very mixed reviews. Who knows....testing is still so far from accurate. As my doctor said to me we are probably treating a strain of lyme that doesnt have a test yet

Hi MarsyNY,

I am still making the trips to Mt. Kisco. Are you still seeing the same LLMD.

I am becoming less confident in him. He doesn't seem to be taking my positive Baronella test as serious as I think he should be.

I will go ahead with the Stonybrook lab though. It really won't cost me to much since my insurance is accepted by that lab.

It has been a rough month for me. I am feeling really discouraged again. I am on day 9 of my headache and it is really draining me.

Take care, kit

Stonybrook is the only lab I got a positive Lyme PCR test from.

Thanks for letting me know that others have used this lab.

Hopefully it will give me some positive results. I can't afford another Igenex test this time.

Take care, kit

I feel it is a good lab.And if Igenex doesn't start takeing insurance, they should send all tests to SUNY.

Tough lab to get a positive result from. Very conservative when compared to Igenex and MDL.
