I just found out that my father was bitten by a tick (no rash) yesterday. He saw the doc today because he's seen what I have been going through and respects this condition. He feels fine.

The surprising thing is... His duck put him on 21 day cycle of doxy as precaution!! This is amazing! Are the docs starting to wake up??

To take some air out of this balloon.. the duck ordered an ELSA test today. Anyone studying lyme knows that it can take some time for the antibodies to form that the ELSA looks for. His test WILL come back negitive. So... we still have some ground to make in that respect.. but I was PUMPED to hear that this doc is willing to prescribe the meds needed to get this early (if this tick was indeed infected).

Just thought you might find this interesting.

Rhode Island actually has a law that requires insurance companies to cover longterm abx for Lyme. (However, this doesn't apply to employer issued insurance or other group insurance covered by the ERISA law, because ERISA preempts any state regulation of those group insurance plans)

So, it might be that it just has a more educated set of doctors as well.

Actually,

I spoke before I had all the information.

He did have a bulls eye rash that grew to about 6 inches in diameter. They took pictures of the rash and went to the dr. Dr said, Rash means probable Lyme so here is 21 days of Doxy.

Did a western blot and awaiting results. CDC criteria I'm sure so I told him expect it to be negitive. Get a copy of the results and let me know what bands are positive.

He has also talked to me about major increase in sweating since this started.. Yeah... babs for sure, but he's not willing to listen to me. He thinks I got caught up in this Lyme patients are conspiracy theory folk. God I hope they got him started on doxy soon enough that he doesn't have to go through the hell of a central nervous system infection.

Isn't it frustrating when your trying to help someone and you know you're just coming across like a big paranoid person because of the controversy.

I know how that is, my mom had a tick that my sister pulled off her. She now has dizziness,

stabbing neck pain and bad headaches. My sister asked me to quit telling her that it sounded like

Lyme, because she might "latch" on to it.
