I've started a new symptom....wonder if anyone else here has this.

Strange sensation. It is like having a cell phone set to vibrate....

It goes off, but on the inside of my body.

I have had this primarily on my left side, with the vibrations starting around the pelvic

Area and traveling down the inside of my thigh.

I've also had this in my left foot.

Anybody know what this is? If you have it, what infection could it be

Attributed to? As I was driving the car yesterday,

I kept thinking my cell phone was ringing.

I usually keep it on my lap as I drive the 15 passenger van as I can't hear the ring

Over the engine. The phone is also set to vibrate.

I kept checking and checking to see if my phone was ringing.....it wasn't.

It was me. Guess I need an unlisted number.

Any advice or comments re: new, but strange symptom are deeply appreciated.

Hugs,

Geneal

Yes! Just started this weekend. deep inside mby body. Comes and goes for short periods.

I often think my cell phone is going off in my pocket when driving, and I do not have Lyme. This happens more often in certain vehicles. I think it is just certain vibrations from the engine that are felt in the body. I feel them without the phone also but once you are conditioned to feel the phone you respond to the vibration as a phone call. I am guessing you would not have even noticed the vibration if you never had a cell phone.

Lyme seems to make the nerves more sensitive to everything, so it is possible you are just more sensitive to all sensations or specific vibrations.

Best Regards

This is happening out of the car.

It doesn't matter if I am sitting or standing.

Strangest sensation.

Ahh, good old internal vibrations! I get these too. It freaked me out the first time.

I was in bed trying to fall asleep & I swear i thought my bed was faintly vibrating. Then I figured out it was just me. (this was before abx)

After i went on Doxy, it got worse for a few days and then disappeared. However, I just increased my dosage & the vibes are back! Maybe it's some sort of herx reaction?

It's def. worse at night and during sleep. Have you tried foot detox pads? I just ordered some.

This is one of my most maddening symptoms and also one of the hardest to describe (but I will try [Big Grin] ) and I understand exactly what you are talking about.

Mine also started in the 'pelvic' area and when it first began (over 20 years ago..before I even had a cell phone) I described it as feeling like I was sitting on a washing machine or in a car on fast idle. I was nowhere near either at the time.

I now get the feelings in various other body parts, also. It lasts anywhere from a few seconds to several hours/days at a time. Sometimes it feels as slight as the low 'hum' of a refrigerator or akin to holding a purring cat.

I have no clue what to do about it or what causes it. But I will say that it is different than the 'electric shock' sensations that I get down my spine or on the back of my head.

So not much help from me but at least you know that you are not alone in having these odd sensations.

I always find myself in such good company.

Do any of you think it is Lyme?

Or maybe something else.

I am currently in the middle of babs treatment.

I am just wondering if it is time to go back on doxy and treat the babs again later.

Hopefully, my LLMD, whom I am to see tomorrow will have some ideas.

Now if the vibrations were just in the right place,

I could walk around with a secret smile on my face....all day long!

Geneal

Has anyone found a way to get rid of these sensations? Did a specific medicine work for you?

One of my friends with Lyme was trying to explain this to me the other day, and since I don't have this symptom it was hard to understand. It is good that she is not the only one that has this.

Well, I definitely think it's Lyme related. Do any of you have any co-infections? I haven't been tested for those yet.

Geneal - Lol, I hear you about the vibrations...i often think "wrong place, wrong time"

Hi Geneal.....

Yes, I also have these vibrations which have actually been one symptom that has intensified over the course of treatment.

At first I thought it was a cell phone in my pocket only to find no cell phone there. Pelvic area, breast area.

Now it seems my feet and hands are getting the brunt of it, then faintly my entire body.

I don't know which of the infections causes it but I would be VERY curious to hear what your LLMD tells you if you want to share after your appointment.

Since so much of it is in the feet, I was thinking bartonella. Yet, could also be the neurolyme too since it is in more than just the feet.

It's very perplexing to deal with all the different kinds of sensations and pains lyme brings.

Posted by CD57 (Member # 11749) on :

I have it too -- a new symptom that started only after treatment for Lyme began. My LLMD has not commented on it being part of Lyme or co-infection.
Seems to me like it's just the bug manifesting itself via the brain.

Posted by Geneal (Member # 10375) on :

Well I am pretty sure it is not bartonella.

Finished my rifampin treatment for that without reoccurence of symptoms.

Treating babs with malarone (4 x a day) with biaxin.

Following stomach flu and bronchitis these past 10 days,

Felt like I might of had a flare up of Lyme....or a really bad babs herx.

It just seems kind of CNS to me. More likely the Lyme.

I hope anyways and not something else new to deal with.

Hugs,

Geneal

This was and can still be a maddening symptom for me. Lyrica has helped me quite a bit!

Gigi has suggested metal detox.

At the onset of my symptoms 3 months age I had this in my whole body. Very creepy symptom, it made me feel totally out of control. Now I have it occasionally in my right foot. Getting better very slowly.

Posted by GardenLymer (Member # 6008) on :

Haven't had the whole body vibrations in a few yrs. now. I'm pretty sure mine started before abx - got worse initially on abx - then slowly went away altogether.
That said - I think EMF's might trigger them. Sometimes when on the computer a long time I get them in my head, in the ear/side of head area. That's my cue to log off. Also recently...had my phone on vibrate (which I never do) but this time I was mowing, and expecting a call I couldn't miss, and had nowhere to clip my phone - so I put it on vibrate & in my pocket. Did the same thing -tried to answer the phone constantly - I was SURE it was ringing....lol, no calls. I would not keep the cell phone on my person. I'm convinced it triggers it. Just my opinion.~Cindy~

I get this, too. It is not herx related as I got this even before I was diagnosed and taking abx.

It is not driving in a car or cell phone related. It is definitely Lyme disease--or Neurological Lyme Disease, I believe.

I've been treated for a year (for Lyme) and still get these sensations. It's the most persistent of my symptoms.

I used to get these about one every hour when I was stopping an SSRI.

You are not in the process of quiting an antidepressant like Lexapro are you?

Posted by Geneal (Member # 10375) on :

No I am not on any antidepressants, although I probably should be.

Just plain old babs treatment of malarone (4 x a day), biaxin (1000mg a day), sporonax (2 x a week)

I also take armour thyroid (low dose) and 2.5 mg of cortef for poor adrenal function.

It feels like Lyme. These sensations remind me of how I felt prior to being

Diagnosed and put on doxy. It may be doxy time again.

I hate the panic/anxiety attacks. Starting with more joint pain,

Rib pain, visual disturbances, tingling in feet, toes, etc.

I am also herxing like crazy with babs treatment with increased air hunger, headaches,

And drenching sweats during the day while outside.

Sleep is also more disturbed.

Is there a better combo for Lyme and babs?

Maybe biaxin just isn't doing enough for me.

I really appreciate all of your suggestions and advice.

I forgot to mention I have this doomsday feeling again.

I had hoped never to be in this place, both mentally and physically again.

Darn!!!!!

Hugs,

Geneal

Ive had this for 15 years. Nothing has made it go away. It comes and goes every couple days. No doctor has been able to tell me what the cause of it is or what infection causes it. It gets really bad the day after I drink alcohol. Which I dont do anymore because of this.

As I used to suffer from vibrations, it was explained to me by a couple of doctors as follows:

Certain receptors in the skin layers and collagen are being aroused
by normal stimulation, but also by abnormal stimulation, by neurotoxins.

For me, vibrations were especially noticeable in the early morning. Explanation for this toxin thing: When we are asleep, we are fasting and when we are fasting, we spontaneously detoxify. So by morning we get a pretty strong detox reaction, stronger when we sleep long. Help yourself by taking a strong dose of chlorella at bedtime, or any of the other mop-up agents. Zeolite, or others. Some people get too energized by B Vitamins -don't sleep well, so watch for that. Often without these mop-ups, the toxins cannot exit and recirculate/settling somewhere else.

What are Neurotoxins?

(from www.neuraltherapy.com - Neurotoxin Elimination Protocol)

They are absorbed by nerve endings and travel inside the neuron to the cell body. On their way they distrupt vital functions of the nerve cell, such as axonal transport of nutrients, mitochondrial respiration and proper DNAtranscription. The body is constantly trying to eliminate neurotoxins via the available exit routes: the liver, kidney, skin and exhaled air. Detox mechanisms include acetylation, sulfation, glucuronidation, oxidation and others. The liver is most important in these processes. Here most elimination products are expelled with the bile into the small intestine and should leave the body via the digestive tract.

However, because of the lipophilic/neurotropic nature of the neurotoxins, most are reabsorbed by the abundant nerve endings of the enteric nervous system (ENS) in the intestinal wall. The ENS has more neurons than the spinal chord. From the moment of mucosal uptake the toxins can potentially take 4 different paths:

1. neuronal uptake and via axonal transport to the spinal chord (sympathetic neurons) or brainstem (parasympathetics) - from here back to the brain.
2. Venous uptake and via the portal vein back to the liver
3. Lymphatic uptake and via the thoracic duct to the subclavian vein
4. Uptake by bowel bacteria and tissues of the intestinal tract

Here is an incomplete list of common neurotoxins in order of importance:

(i)Heavy metals:

mercury, lead, cadmium, iron, manganese and aluminum (are the most common).
Common Sources: metallic mercury vapor escapes from dental amalgam fillings (they contain about 50 % mercury, the rest is zinc, silver copper, tin and trace metals). Cadmium: car fumes, cigarette smoke , pigment in oil paint Lead: outasing from-paint, residues in earth and food chain from time when lead was used in gasoline, contaminated drinking water Aluminum: cookware, drinking water

(ii) Biotoxins:
such as tetanus toxin, botulinum toxin (botox), ascaridin (from intestinal parasites), unspecified toxins from streptococci, staphylococci, lyme disease, chlamydia, tuberculosis, fungal toxins and toxins produced by viruses. Biotoxins are minute molecules (200-1000 kilodaltons) containing nitrogen and sulfur. They belong to a group of chemical messengers which microorganisms use to control the hosts immune system, host behaviour and the hosts eating habits.

(iii) Xenobiotics (man-made environmental toxins):
such as dioxin, formaldehyde, insecticides, wood preservatives, PCBs etc.

(iv) Food Preservatives, excitotoxins and cosmetics:
aspartame (diet sweeteners), MSG, many spices, food colourings, fluoride, methyl-and propyl -paraben, etc.

Take care.

How are you doing, Geneal? Any better today? Hang in there!

Posted by Geneal (Member # 10375) on :

Hi Bejoy,

Thanks for checking on me.

I am still vibrating. LLMD thinks this is "neuro" lyme. Related to a

Flare up following stomach flu and bronchitis.

My cortisol levels continue to be low, so they've upped my cortef.

Maybe this is all part of why I feel so sick.

Oh, and I am back on valcyte.....LLMD is really concerned about my CMV titers.

They were so high the lab could not accurately count them.

I was hoping a month or two of valcyte.....LLMD said 4-6 months. Yikes.

I hope to get out of this valley and start climbing the mountain again soon.

Hope you are doing well.

Hugs,

Geneal

YES! What is that??? I have been feeling like my teeth are vibrating. Sometimes when the vibrating gets to be very bad it lead to excessive and uncontrollable vomiting. I have no idea what bug is causing this. sorry. If you find out- please let me know. Every time I tell my docs they look at me like I am crazy. [confused]

Definitely some better feedback here than I was probably getting from doctors before my diagnosis.

For me, my vibration was mostly in the back of my neck. I could put my hand on the back of my neck and actually feel the vibration from the outside as well as what I thought was going on inside.

For me, I went to all the various specialists as we all do and when seeing one of the neurologists, he ran me through an EEG and said I was having mini seizures when they would flash the lights in the test.

It never felt like any form of seizure to me, but hey....I just knew my whole body was not working right and it seemed neurological, so he atleast had some test saying SOMETHING.

In my case, he put me on Klonepin, but not as most usually take it. He would tell me to take it the second I even thought that sensation would be coming on, although usually I had no notice.

Then I was to take it three times a day and also for the next five days and quit. Hard to say if it was really helping since I'm sure it was also something to shut me up and have me go away...if you get my drift.

Since treatment, I haven't had it hitting nearly like it use to, but then again, perhaps that aspect of herxing is later down the road.

Not saying there was any validity to this, but only wanted to say that I definitely had that vibration going on BEFORE diagnosis and wondering if you ever had an EEG...and if so, did it show anything.

Yes, I have had full body vibrations for over 18 months. It seems to be worse in the pelvic area, goes up the front of my body, down my spine, makes my whole body vibrate, and if I hold a paper you can see me tremor.

Mine seemed to coincide with the onset of a whole new set of symptoms which we think is Bart (it started about the time my Bart test turned positive and just before I started Bart treatment). In addition to vibration, the symptoms came on with tremors and terrible myoclonus as well as increased twitching.

I wonder if it's vagus nerve related because of all the pelvic stuff.

Mine started worse at night or in wee hours but are now 24/7.

Now I look back on the years of intense pain as the good old days - this CNS stuff is the worst.

Hey- the Vibrations- I remember that band-my body used to play it quite a bit-popular among lyme patients.

I've had internal vibrations as well. Felt them everywhere.

I've had feelings of an electrical current going through my body.

I have felt the sensation of the blood pumping through my veins down my arms and legs as well.

I've been told by my LLMD, these are Lyme symptoms.

Posted by Ellie K (Member # 12056) on :

I don't think I have this symptoms as severely as others, but I definitely have experienced it.

I don't have babs so for me, it must be bart or lyme. I think it is part of my bart herxes.

It usually starts in my lower calves and works its way up my legs. Sometimes it only occurs on one side. I can also get in my hands.

For me, it usually occurs after a particularly intense acupuncture session, maybe because my body is detoxing?

I don't find it painful, just odd and a little unnerving. [Roll Eyes]

Geneal...

If you go to Stella's links, you see my initial posts and replies to her from a while back.

I had them in my face...SOOO much fun trying to get to sleep with your face feeling like its bubbling under the skin...

My LD has been in suppression for over a year now. The vibrations are maddening, but they will pass...they may come back again, but most people overcome them. I do agree with GiGi that it is some sort of reaction to toxins. I was CDC positive for Lyme and Babs...I never had Bart.

I highly recommend making sure you get your body back to a good state, in conjunction with the ABX.

These are a few things I did:

Probiotics
Drink water ONLY ...no sodas, no sports drinks, etc.
Avoided processed foods.
Avoided "sauces".
Switched to whole wheat bread and grains
Ate a LOT more fruits/veggies mostly raw if you can.
Read labels on foods...if you can't pronounce or "know" what an ingredient is, move on to something else.
Know the bad ingredients - ex. - Hydrogenated or Brominated ANYTHING is bad.

The vibrations are a sign that your body is out of whack...researching nutrition and getting back to the basics of food will be well worth your time and effort...I think it was, and still is, key to my fight with LD. Everyone's path is different of course, but natural nutrition should be your foundation from which to fight.

Oh yes.. the old Elvis the Pelvis syndrome!

I know it well.

Feels like you are leaning up against the air filter box on the outside of a fish aquarium.

Like GiGi, mine were mostly in the AM hours.. and my teeth would chatter when it got real bad.

KNOCK ON WOOD.. it is gone and it hasn't been back in years. I have NO clue.. other than just treating and getting better.. what made them start/stop.

Sorry G... wish I had a better answer for you. But I thought it MIGHT be encouraging that they did quit.

Good luck.. and if they get real bad... just put on Jailhouse Rock music and vibrate yourself and that pelvis across the kitchen floor... with Elvis the Pelvis.
