I think I'm in a negative frame of mind today because the first question I had after reading the article is:

If the media knew more about neuro-lyme do you think they would have said more about the 'fit-for-duty' designation?

I sure hope they 'over-treated' our Commander-In-Chief... we really need him to be mentally fit-for-duty!

Posted by locdog (Member # 10372) on :

Ok so he was treated for lyme in 2006.

That explains all his dumb *** mistakes for the last 2 years.

Now if we could just figure out what the problem was the 6 before that!!!!

As for myself, I hope he DOES get chronic lyme.

It would be a great gain for the lyme community worldwide if he recognizes that chronic lyme exists, while most of the medical community denies it.

It's a bad individual story for him, if he gets chronic, but a great gain for all chronic lyme sufferers.

My opinion.

As much as I dislike him..

Wishing harm onto others is something I can not do.

Posted by alliebridge (Member # 9103) on :

Me, too. I don't wish him chronic Lyme.

Even if he does develop the neuro symptoms, we may be talking about AFTER he leaves office and then it won't get talked about.

I hope this news story today DOES get it talked about. Maybe Oprah will do her Lyme show sooner!

If you read the article, it says he often has ticks on him after his bike rides. And he didn't start riding bikes in the woods last year.

Who knows how many successive infections any of us have had?

On one of the other threads on this someone points out his knee problems and some of the bell's palsy type symptoms that are visible when he speaks.

Even if I don't agree with his every decision, I can't imagine the level of intensity of his role as President. It seems like all the presidents age prematurely in office. I only wish him the best of health serving our country.

INTERESTING!!!

During the last election, there was a video circulating, where they compared old footage of his debate with Ann Richards during a Texas governor race years ago (the year he won the gubernatorial election there), with footage of one of his debates with Kerry or some other speeches he's made in recent years.

It was obvious that something had changed about his brain during the intervening years.

He sounds like a completely different person in the recent years- he actually sounds like a good public speaker in the Texas race (15 years ago? more?).

The speculation was that his recent inability to make sense in public is connected to 'dry drunk' syndrome- neurological symptoms caused by being an alcoholic (who's presumably not drinking currently).

Lyme explains the same symptoms a lot more!

Presumably if he'd had active Lyme in the past and then got re-bit in 2006 that would still explain the obvious degeneration. My own theory is that a few of us have had Lyme more than once- and that people sometimes recover semi-OK from it once and then get much sicker when they're bit the second time.

There's no way to tell, of course, but that seems like what a lot of Lymenet experiences with 'second bites' looks like. It would explain Bush's verbal degeneration between the time of his competent Ann Richards Texas governors' race debate style, and the totally Lyme-like way that he mixes up words all the time now. I wonder if he was one of the walking wounded the entire time in between.

We should write the President and express our joy and relief, that his Lyme Disease was detected early.

Let's tell him how lucky he was to have the rash and PROMPT treatment!

Offer a little info about our horrible disease, hoping he will not suffer, like so many of us.

Give him a little story of your Lyme journey.

Send him your Best Wishes for a continued Lyme FREE LIFE!!!

The First Lady could also be included. She is lucky he got PROMPT treatment.Laura needs to know how fortunate she is.Fortunate to have a Lyme Free husband.

wow, what do you guys think of THIS bit:

quote:
"He is recovering from an inner ear infection and sinus infection, as well as a virus that resulted in a stomach bug in June and still causes some mild dizziness or disorientation."
"Dizziness and disorientation..." - after something else depressed his immune system. How often does a stomach bug cause lingering dizziness and disorientation, in your experience? How often does a lingering Lyme infection do the same?

what do you want to bet he'll come down with Lyme-induced Alzheimers' or something in a few years?

My guess is that if they covered up the fact that he was sick last year, that means that "they" were really worried about it. I don't buy the bit about how it wasn't announced because it was after his last physical- when a politician gets an infectious disease or an unexpected hospital procedure, it's big news, even if it's a minor procedure or illness. I'm guessing that it took them a year to get it under control this time around, or something similar.

I do not think this helps us at all. Just proof, the IDSA would say, that Lyme is easily treated with 3 weeks of antibiotics.

And I am suspicious of why they chose to release this now after they obviously made the decision to keep this out of the press a year ago. Likely a decision pushed by the IDSA. "What a perfect opportunity to push our agenda - see, Pres Bush followed our guidelines and he is WELL". It's all spin, and none of it helps at all. If Bush ever gets sick, I assure you it will never be traced back to his brief encounter with Lyme in 2006.

Hi All

This is what We need to do--

Call your local TV stations and tell
them that you Have Lyme Disease and
that you are Knowledgeable about Lyme-

The reporters will want to interview you
or the people you suggest--

Call ALL of your TV stations --
Do it right now --TV stations are 24X7 --

Many TV stations also have email where
you can give them News stories ect-

If we spend the next few days working on
this we could have Good results--Jay--

I would bet he has had it for a very long time. He is an outdoorsman just like Ronald Regan. A politician just as a lot of celebrities probably don't bring it up because it puts their careers into question.

I want him to help push his cronies to pass the Senn Dodd Bill.

San Diego news says, "disease that he was secretly treated for".

Wonder why they felt the need to keep it secret?? After all it's no big deal ....right?

Don't want anyone to blame his decisions on the possible cognitive probelms associated with chronic Lyme.

Hi All

I just called the 4 Local TV stations here in
Austin and told them that I have Lyme
and that I would be willing to give them Inrerviews --they all excepted --

So I think All 4 of them are going to do stories on it-

NOW is the Time to do this --Act Now --

Most TV stations have a phone # to call with Breaking News--Hot Line-- call that number --
It goes straight to the New Desk and you will be
able to talk to a Live person--

Call the TV stations and tell them your story-

--Jay--

Hmmmmm......Forbes just did a "turn around" article on lyme disease. Guess they had to change their tune when the Head Honcho got lymed......

oh yes, they all know what it really islike, and what the downside can be, and that is why they kept it a secret....so they could monitor recovery.....probably with ILADS treatment, too.....which is another reason for it being secret.

I seriously doubt that W got adequate treatment if he was treated by conventional docs. Surely he still has it.

And to think how stress is like fertilizer for lyme... Hope it doesn't manifest as Lyme Rage.

I had to come to Lymenet to make sure I was hearing the news correctly!

What a cover up? I have mixed feelings about this. Why isn't the night political stations not talking about it? Like CNN, FoxNews and MSNBC. Maybe Larry King will do a show on it now. But, I would not hold my breath.

I plan to write to the White House. I would also like to know what his treatment was, if any, and did he have blood tests for it?

Think this is opening a keg of worms. We need to get active now and bug him.

Hugs, Perplexed [bonk]

The "mild dizziness and disorientation" is certainly consistent with the vertigo I suffered when I had Lyme and with that many of my Lyme patients have reported. He could suffer from misdiagnosed chronic Lyme.

Lived in San Antonio in the 70's. The whole family, including dog, who later developed ascending paralysis origins unknown, were routinely bitten by lone star ticks. Very agressive & hungry things.

If Bush develops or has Lyme who will ever know? It will be called something else.

"What do you want to bet he'll come down with Lyme-induced Alzheimers' or something in a few years?"

Come on he already has Alzheimers or how else could be so frickin' stupid? There is a photo of him in a class room looking at a children's book up side down. He is not the brightest bagel at the brunch. He can not seem to figure out this war is and was a bad idea. Any idiot could figure that one out. Remember the presidential debates? He was running around shaking his finger and ranting clearly in the middle of a lyme rage. What was the black box doing on his back during the debate? He was and is so brain dead they had to tell him what to say.

What about co-infections? I bet he still has lyme disease and who knows what else bart babs etc.

Why do bad things happen to good people?

I bet Cheney has lyme too. His hunting trip and shooting his buddy were clearly lyme vertigo induced not to mention did he not say he only had one beer. One beer is fun fun fun for the keets not that I believe he only had one beer.

I want to know if he got bit in Crawford, Texas. I am sure he spends time hunting and riding horses. Oh, but wait you cannot have Lyme Disease from a Texas tick. It seems odd that the story brings up riding bikes, what about the time he spends in Texas. Could this be another cover-up? This makes me furious!

Speaking of sinus infections I bet he for sure still has it.

Before I was diagnosed I use to get sinus infections often sometimes spending a whole month in bed in the winter when I lived in a moldy cottage without proper ventilation.

I use to have water dripping from the ceiling all night long on to my carpets from the moisture the place retained. I was stuck there for 8 years because I was often sick and could not work and did not have the money to move or the energy to look for a new home. The water heater broke and flooded the place and then the landlord was too cheap to remove the moldy carpet. Talk about Bay Area rental hell.

Just a reminder to the younger set here:

Illnesses suffered by US Presidents have been covered up or kept secret for eons! It's nothing new.

I'm not justifying it....just stating as fact.

I totally agree with this. One example is that we didn't find out about Kennedy on so much narcotics for pain until just recently.

There is a particular incentive to cover up chronic Lyme disease because of its neuropsych symptoms. We have to keep that in mind and not get fixed on trying to get a lot of press for chronic Lyme out of this.

Remember that the White House has a vested interest in people NOT thinking too much about how demented you can get with this illness.

This is an opportunity for us to get people to recognize that everyone can get Lyme disease, not to expect to get recognition for how frequent and awful the chronic form is

Now is the time to get active. CALL ERITE GIVE INTERVIEWS. My guess also is this has been covered up. I hope it is Chronic, let him feel how it is to suffer, we can't let them convince the world he's CURED if he"s not. Welcome to our world Mr. Bush. He has lyme brain and that would explain his stupidity.!!!!!

Or look at it the other way, they might be trying to explain that it's the Lyme that is making him stoopid!

I suspect MANY people in the LYMElight [Smile] have/had Lyme since it is quite common, but nobody is boasting about having it, unless they've got something WORSE (- or something they they think is worse because they DON'T have chronic Lyme), so it's a way to explain why someone has health issues without it jeopardising their career too much.

Regan, Kennedy...

Think about those men too. Alzheimers...back problems...

Riding horses...vacations in the east...

Different strains = different ultimate manifestations?

Once again...there is one key and it lies in the blood of the Western fence lizard.

WHY ON EARTH are we not focusing on finding out which "protein" or which "enzyme" is present in the blood of the WFL that is capable of doing this? Capable of destroying Bb.

Is it increased cAMP?

This is Cyclic adenosine monophosphate and it comes from ATP. It is used for intracellular signal transduction, such as transferring the effects of hormones like glucagon and adrenaline, which cannot get through the cell membrane .

Its main purpose is the activation of protein kinases ; it is also used to regulate the passage of Ca2+ through ion channels.

Bb has a protein kinase INHIBITOR. PKC inhibitor. It looks to be PKC delta.

IF the above is true...Forskolin (along with curcumin and a "fat") look pretty good.

The herbs have a synergy and one works best with another.

How much, how often...I don't have a clue! No "RDA" or "ODA" (optimal dietary allowance) is known.

Yeah, and the article in my paper said it was "just" a bullseye rash initially and that there were no other symptoms that developed. They also said it went unreported by "W" for a year. Soooo...if it was just a rash (which would have gone away) with no other symptoms, WHY WOULD YOU TREAT IT A YEAR LATER???

The BS never stops flowing from them...but we all know better, don't we?

Posted by DW213 (Member # 9590) on :

My newspaper this morning said that he was never tested for Lyme, he was treated based on his symptoms.

So co-infections may be running rampant!

http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/08/08/bush.health/index.html

How about this article from CNN

"While the president had to slightly rearrange his schedule after suffering flu-like symptoms at the Group of Eight Summit in Germany in June, the report says he has not "otherwise missed work due to illness since his last physical exam" in 2006"

A full year later? Flu-like symptoms???

and those non cancerous growths in his colon???

makes you go hmmm !
