You may remember me from a couple of months ago. My 1 year old was bitten by a tick and I ended up taking him to see Dr. J.
Dr. J said that he thought that he was ok. Being that it was almost 3 months after his tick bite, he really thought that he would be experiencing symptoms by then if something was wrong.
He examined my son for 1 1/2 hours and strongly felt that he was alright.
Since the appt, my son has had Echo Virus, Strep throat and Coxsackie virus. His skin also breaks out a lot on his face, and he has small bumps here and there on his arms/legs and on his head.
Do you think that I should call Dr. J back? Do you think that these things (virus's and white bumps/baby acne) could be symptoms of the tick bite?
I don't want to bother him being that he's so busy, but I'm just a paranoid first time mom and I cannot HELP but always have that tick bite in the back of my mind when something happens to him.
This was a baby who was NEVER sick and hardly had any pimples on his face before he was bitten.
Any advice is greatly appreciated!!!

Go with your gut feelings!

I know - I really should trust my gut. It's really hard though being as Dr. J is the BEST LLMD Pediatrician in the country!
I just don't know if I'm being paranoid, attributing every little thing to the tick bite.

First, I'm so sorry your son's having these problems. Not being an LLMD OR a Mom, I'm not well-versed enough to know if his symptoms signal an emerging TBI or are just typical of childhood.
If I were you, though, I'd absolutely call Dr. J and describe your son's new symptoms. Once he's had a chance to hear about this, he can assess what he thinks might be going on.
That's just my thought.

My older daughter had all of those things as a normal part of childhood before she got Lymed except the small bumps thing...
I don't know, I would trust Doc J -!! But if something happens unusual I would call him-

Hi, You are your son's best advocate and you see your son daily, so I think it is always worthwhile to have all of your concerns addressed and all of your questions answered.
I have three children who have all recovered from Lyme and I have been to Dr. Jones' office many times.
In between visits, I communicate with him by typing a letter and faxing it to him. I describe all of my child's symptoms and any new issues and concerns.
This has worked well for us and in this way there is a written record of my concerns that might prove helpful later, if needed.
I think that if you just use the phone and talk to the office staff, that something could get lost in the translation, even though his staff is very competent and knowledgeable.
Usually the staff will give him the letter and then get his response and the staff will call you back with his answer. I don't think that it's too onerous for him and it basically comes with the territory of pediatrics.

Thank you everyone for your replies!
I think that is a great idea to fax him my concerns and have the office staff call me back.
Do they usually call you back in a timely manner?
Thanks again!

Yes, they usually call back in a day or less, providing it isn't urgent.
