Hi everyone,

There was a recent thread about calf muscle pain, spasms and twitching, which I, too, have experienced the last few months.

Increasing my calcium and magnesium did not help me personally. Then I added some potassium in the form of a calcium/magnesium/potassium supplement. This is finally helping.

A Lyme patient told me her non-Lyme husband experienced calf muscle pain in the morning like I do, and it was potassium that his doctor recommended.

My calf muscle issues started with tightness behind one knee, then both, all the time, making it hard to walk. I have been on Rifampin for months, I am presuming Bartonella may be affecting the tendons which it can do.

The muscle pain and tightness spread to one calf then both. In the morning when I would wake up, the calves would go into a tight spasm if I'd try to stretch. I would have to massage them in order to get out of bed.

The calcium/magnesium/potassium supplement has greatly lessened this morning spasm. I still have tightness and pain all the time, but can get out of bed much more easily.

Please note that potassium should NOT be used if you have any kind of kidney problem.

The last time I saw my LLMD, I only had tightness behind my knees. He recommended I use my mini-trampoline to drain my lymphatics. However, vertigo has made this impossible.

The supplement I bought at the health food store is Country Life Calicium,Magnesium, Potassium and it also contains phosphorous. It was the only combo like this they had, but I will look at some other health food stores, too.

I agree. Sometimes calcium and mag alone will not ease the cramps. I was taking both for years when I suddenly developed foot and hand cramps.

I found very fast relief from taking Mega Multi Mineral from Solaray. It contains potassium and all kinds of minerals.

Thanks, Lymetoo,

I will look for that supplement. I tend to tolerate Solaray products very well.
