I got my packet to fill out for before my first visit. It has a form that asks for pharmacies to use along with compounding pharmacies. I have no idea as to what to do with comp. pharmacy section.

Do I have to check with my ins. company first to see if they allow me to use a comp. pharm?

What meds will I need to get through the comp. pharm?

I use Cinga PPO so any info is always appreciated.

I hope you all are having a peaceful day:)

He might prescribe compounded hormone therapy. But that may not be something you will be tested for right away.

I'm sure you could leave that blank.

Call your ins and ask how they handle compounded drugs. They most likely will cover them.

good luck!!! [Smile]

I haven't had a problem with getting compounded meds. Then only thing I had trouble with was compounded DHEA, which they claim is OTC. How a specially compounded formula can be OTC beats me!

I am lucky because my LLMD is local and uses a fairly local pharmacy for compounding.

There is a list of compounding pharmacies. Try googling for it. I believe it lists by state.

Compounded meds have been tricky for me. SOme covered, some not. Hormones are usually covered as they have become so well known the insurance co, "knows" how to handle lthose claims. Compounded methy B-12 has been trickey, Some insurance companies cover it others don't you just have to ask. My nebulized glutathione was not covered but I am applealing.

SOmetimes they say they don't cover then I send the claimi in and they pay. In my opinion it is best to go woth a pharmacy that will file for you. This seems to get better results.

Always appeal denials you often will get paid.

Hope this helps,
robi

Hi Mob,

The compounding pharmacy that I have used will bill your carrier. Maybe you could ask up front, you may not have a problem if they will bill directly.

hope this helps,

Julia
