I'm having problems with my period, basically I'm not getting one anymore!! This has been a problem since maybe a year now. I've noticed my periods have gotten lighter and shorter in lenght. A few months back I practically didn't get one!
Since then I've been on Zithromax for 3 months and for 3 months I got a period. This month I got spotting in between my periods, pain but no period!
My hormones test out fine. Thyroid is ok, Estrogen is ok. I'm not sure why this is happening?
I guess its the Lyme. Can you guys tell me if you had this issue what helped you to fix it??
I'm still young and want to have kids some day so this is kinda scarring me!!

It's probably lyme attacking your thyroid. The tests (like lyme) are not reliable.
My lyme doc put me on low dose armour thyroid, with a clinical diagnosis--tests were "normal" like you.
I had taken my morning temp for a month and a few days were 96 degrees--just too low--was diagnosed hypothyroid.
Hopefully it will turn around once the lyme is cured!

Have you either lost or gained a lot of weight? Estrogen is fat soluble, so a very low or very high level of body fat can cause ammenorhea (loss of periods).
If you have ammenorhea because of your weight, it will be self-correcting as you get back to normal.
Lyme can affect the hormones.

yes--lyme can effect your hormones and cause you to stop getting your period. It can also cause lots of other gyn issues. as folks above said---tests for thyroid are not easy to interpret and not reliable and you can test within the normal range, but still have thyroid issues. Same goes for any hormone test. if you arent in menopause you cant test hormones because the range is so wide.
there are some here who have stopped bleeding most likely as a secondary thing to lyme.
There are a few lyme literate gyns in the country. You might consider seeing an endocrinologist if you havent already.
taking your temp as someone saidd above is very helpful in pinpointing an otherwise difficult diagnosis.

After my diagnosis at 23, almost 3 years ago, my cycles started getting really screwy. At one point, I went to 2 different OB/GYNs who both said I needed a Hystorectomy. There was no way.
I finally found one that simply changed my birth control to something lower dose, and it's pretty much fixed me.

Lyme hurled me into menopause at 41, and doctors chuckled as I argued with them and tried to convince them that menopause at 41 was not normal and that this was just another offshoot of something much more serious.
In desperation, I started drinking gallons and gallons of soy milk - which I was allergic to.
Let's just say it wasn't pretty, and I will take a bow telling this story to my grandkids one day about how I directed a 4-letter word at my gyn while suffering from late-stage Lyme. Definitely a moment in history when I shined;)

I am 35 and started thinking I was going into menopause at 33. No one believed me, but my periods were stopping!
I also had been treated for basically having no progesterone--but hormone meds didn't help me for long, because Lyme was the culprit the whole time.
I later learned from my LLMD upon getting diagnosed with Lyme that Lyme messes up your hormones and can cause early menopause.

My periods have been messed up for the past year and I am 22. At first I was on birth control and was continually spotting. The doctors didnt think it was weird even thoguh I had been on the same pill for 3 years.
I stopped taking my brith control pill 9 months ago and they are still messed up. I now have my period once every 2-3 months and it is very light.

I didnt have a period for 8 months. I had lost a lot of weight(dr couldnt figure out why, even LLMD's)
If you arent healthy your body might also be stopping the period because back in the hunting gathering days,
there is no way the body would be able to have a baby while fighting such a severe infection such as lyme.
I went on prometrium, and a few months later I got my period back.
But i also did a short round of amoxy, so i really dont know which it was. I also gained 10lbs over night.
Im also on armour thyroid.

I was mis dx for a year and a half with endometriosis...no matter what birth control pills i took i still had a period almost every week and it was gettin worse... almost constantly having periods which were totally debilitating...sever pain...i was bed ridden from them. I had 2 surg to remove the endo(and what the doc called a wierd looking apendix...and after thtat when i still didn't get better finally realized i had lyme. It was an endo specialist that finally dx me...apparently many women with chronic pelvic pain have lyme. Since then i have only had one period in over 2 years. All my tests come back normal. I would love to see a LLMD gyn for help. I am only 22 and really want children. Any advise would be great!

see if you can find a reproductive endroncronolgist they hopefully should help. I had horrible cramps, nasua, migranes, ect. 3 lapoporosky(sp?) in 10 years for endometris 3 rounds of lupron shots to help the endometrosis. Swapped birth control consistaly untill one worked, Yasmin. I've had to educate my endro doc on Lime(the way he spells it). why are these things so hard to spell?

My periods abruptly stopped 10 years ago. I've tried almost conventional product and B-HRT product using patches, transdermal cremes, oral and sublingual pills. My urine levels are high but blood levels are low for every hormone.
My LLMD dx'd me with adult growth hormone deficiency. I recently had a stim test for the release of GH with a conventional endo. The doctor bet me one fancy imported beer that I would pass the test beforehand.
Normal results to L-Dopa HGH stimulus is 10. I produced less than 1/4 of normal levels of growth hormone. The cut off for deficiency is 5 but the most I made was 2.4. Now the endo has recommended that I stay on HGH and upped the dose. Plus he owes me a beer.
The endo says I do not have much HPA axis function. Low thyroid. Low adrenals. Low IGF-1. Now I must carry around Solu-Cortef for an adrenal crisis.
My insurance will cover the cost of HGH. I pay a $40 copay for month. Was paying cash price of $285.50 for a one month supply of Nordiflex Norditropin. Who can afford that on top of Bb tx?
It is funny that my insurance carrier demanded the stim test thinking they could get out of paying. Now they have to cover a bigger pen at twice the cost. ^&*% Cheap-Skates!
The endo turned my name in to Novodisk. They sent me a $50 back pack, a fancy transport cooler, a carrying case and a free DVD, a box of wipes, a box of needle tips and a free one month supply of HGH (10 ml. pen).
When I first read the info about AGHD I knew that this was finally what's been wrong for most of my life.
Do some research on vitex, an herb. It is supposed to help regulate the hormones and "helps the endocrine system find its balance."

17 year old daughter hasn't had period for 3 1/2 years
Remember igg and igm was negative the 5 bands that were tested were negative but, Lyme - POSITIVE
On top of the other symptoms that she is having
She still does not have LD - according to ID doc
Now wondering if I had a hysterectomy for no reason - Mine was just the opposite - I would have a period for 2 - 3 weeks and so heavy - I couldn't go anywhere - then ob/gyn said wait 6 months and see what happens on pill -
I waited 1 more month and seen another gyn and she said if you don't need it-get rid of it. (I do have 6 kids and had already gotten a tubal after the last one, so not so traumatic to loose it - just don't like surgery)
I still can't believe all of the symptoms that come with the horrid disease.
