Want to take Levaquin, cause it is one of most effective abx for Bart.

However, it's notorious for its horrible side effects, which scare the hell out of me.

Have you even thought how to solve the problem?

I plan to alternate Rifampin and Levaquin: 4 days on Rifampin, 3 days on Levaquin.

The idea is allow the body to have time to recover and repair the damages caused by the abx but consistently attack Bart.

Any comment and has anybody tried it?

Different people react differently to Levaquin. Some cannot tolerate it at all and others do quite well on it.

I herxed hard on it, but had a bit of tendon pain in my elbow, which has since resolved, so I won't go back on it. I am on Doxy now and Babs treatment.

What does your LLMD say?

Hi Dave,

I'm on Rifampin/Levaquin for Bart now. I started the Rifampin 6 weeks ago and added the Levaquin last week. I am doing 5 days on then two off. The end of last week was tough I was real tired but bounced back this weekend. Go back on both again tomorrow. 500mg Lev and 600mg Rif. Keep me posted how you do and I'll do the same back. No real problem so far here.

Dave,
I have done a total of 3 months of Levaquin. Since ligament pain is one of my hard to get symptoms, I feel it has actually helped this pain, not made it worse.

It does flare on Levaquin, but I consider it a herx. I always feel better than when I started. Just my 2 cents.

Thanks everybody for sharing your knowledge and experiences.

I just started this protocol, so far so good and actually the best in the last several months.

My hand pains are much better but still have a long way to go.

Glad to know that you guys are comfortable with Levaquin and some got good results.

I did pulsed Rifampin on TTF at 600mg for about 4 months, which kept me function without relapse, but didn't cure me.

After I went off the abx for 7 days, the symptoms roaming back and my hand pains became intolerable.

So I thought I might have two bugs, one is respond to Rifampin, another is not.

I tested for Bart two times, both are negative. So I don't really if I have Bart.

My Lyme test is CDC positive though, thus I may have coinfections.

I didn't respond well to Babs treatment and Babs symptoms are not obvious.

I had severe nausea, sole pains and hand pains, brain fogs and anxiety.

These symptoms are gone, except the pains on the extremities, which are greatly lessened.

I responded well to Bart treatment.

So I thought I may have Bart.

I had been on Levaquin for about 2 months, and the muscle pains on my arms were exaggerated during that time.

However, the pains are gone now after stopped the abx.

This time I would put all meds that are beneficial to my symptoms together and stay on them longer till all my symptoms are resolved.

Wish all you have a speed healing.

I just added Levaquin to my regimen as well. I'm on 500 mg a day. Hopefully it'll help. I've been told if I feel any tendon issues that I need to stop immediately.

My finger pains, sole pains and hip pains improved a lot after started the abx-alternating regimen.

I can type, sit and walk for a while without unbearable pains.

Before the pains made me very miserable(http://flash.lymenet.org/ubb/ultimatebb.php?ubb=get_topic;f=1;t=057696)

I also started to add other abx (first Biaxin) while stay on alternating Rifampin and Levaquin.

Rifampin and Levaquin will keep me functional without relapse.

If I am not better after one week, I'll try another abx.

By this way, I would be able to screen 55 different abx or herbs and might be able to find a cure.

Any comments?
