My husband just got back from donating blood at a blood drive at the kids school.

One of the questions on the questionair was "Do you have/had Lyme Disease?"
If you answered yes you can not donate blood.

This was not on the questionair last time he gave blood maybe six months ago.

I know it is crazy to get excited over this but I truely feel excited that this has made it to the questionair.

Does anyone know if it has made it to all blood donor questionairs or is it just down here in Louisiana?

By the way he has tested negative for Lyme (twice). We were worried about the thought of it being sexually transmitted that is why he was tested, he never had any symptoms.

[woohoo]

That's great.

I'll have to ask my husband's brother (he gives blood very often) if it says that on the questionarres in PA.

yippee! i spent a lot of time last year and this year talking to IOwa's BLOOD CENTER director, their MD, local american red cross, and also when donating blood for myself for my hip replacement surgery!!!

whoopie; so happy to hear that; i also encouraged them to add fibro and chronic fatigue to he list questions too.

it's a huge start!! thx for posting. [Big Grin]

I read this in disbelief.

I didn't think there was Lyme here in Louisiana (according to every duck I've been to). [dizzy]

What do they know at the blood bank that they aren't sharing with the public?

I am still amazed that La. is progressive about anything, especially Lyme disease and blood donation. [Eek!]

Great news though. [Smile]

Hugs,

Geneal
