Doc gave me 7 day trial of Lycria. It knocked me out. I could barely walk in the middle of the night. I could not drive this morning.

No way could I take it today as I have to drive this evening.

Did you guys have this problem. What do I do.

How much did you take??

Everyone is different...but I ramped up to 50mg three times a day over a course of two weeks. I started with one at bedtime for a few days...then added the morning one,,,,then the afternoon one...

The side effects from the dose raise (sleepiness, "drunken" feeling) go away after a day or so once you get used to the dose. AT least, it did for me.

My Dad takes Lyrica. He worked up to 150 mg 2x/day. When they tried to up one of his doses to 200mg, he couldn't even feed himself.

He was in such bad shape we had to keep him at the 150mg dose. It was pretty scary. It really does seem to help him though.

I do think the dosage makes a difference.

Is it strange that my back is not hurting for the first time in two weeks without pain meds?

He started me on 75 mg. My isurance wont pay until I do neurotin first I just found out so I think I will tell doc to try me on that...

Just so you know, Neurontin has more side effects.

75 mg at one time all at once for the first time is a lot. Even just 50 mg the first two days was interesting.

It does help, but I had to stop taking the neurontin because of the terrible vertigo and Parkinson's like tremors. On the other hand, it supresses herx reactions...but it wasn't worth it for the vertigo.

Neurontin is NOT my friend. However, Gabapentin is its generic. Lyrica doesn't have a generic. My insurance paid part of my Lyrica, however.

What dose did he give you? This drug should be started very low.

Lyrica for me was a very strange drug. I started at 25mg capsules and I cannot take them during the day, they make me too tired and I feel too emotionally weird. But because they do knock me out, I take one at bedtime, other than that, I can't take Lyrica as prescribed for nerve pain. I have read so many Lymies say they can't take this drug.

If you want to try it again, ask for the 25mg, when your doctor tells you they don't make 25mg tell him, yes they do, for some reason they believe the lowest dose is 50mg. Take one at bedtime first.

Many can handle Nuerontin better for nerve pain and it also is to be started low and ramped up slowly. It is also generic an older drug with a proven track record. Lyrica is new, not available in generic, too expensive and in my opinion not worth it. I really don't like this drug at all.

Take care.
