My doc gave me a script for Ultram ER. My co-pay for 30 tabs was 50.00. I decided to try them.

Has anyone tried them and if not what else would be comparable, something maybe my insurance would pay more of.

I had Ultram years ago and it made me feel off-balance.

That was bearable because it helped with pain, but you absolutely do not want to take it with diet soda. It made me so nauseated that the least motion while standing on my feet made me want to throw up.

I have used generic Ultram (Tramadol) for dealing with fibro pain, and it has been been very effective for the level of pain I have had.
I have never used Ultram SE, but I think the extended release is nice but not necessary to
treating pain.
The generic Tramadol is not very expensive.

I've been taking Ultram (tramadol) for about 18 months. It helps alot with my severe bladder pain.

I have been taking Tramadol for my pain (sometimes 50 mg will do & sometimes I need 100 mg., and there's other times when nothing helps!! [puke] ).

My s/o takes both Tramadol & Ultram ER because of degenerative disks in his back. The Ultram ER was a great thing to add for him.

He still requires acupuncture in order to deal with the pain levels he reaches, but the Ultram ER was a big step towards getting his pain under control. [Big Grin]

How long does Ultram ER seem to last?

I slept last night without pain. That is rare. I took it at 6:00 pm yesterday and its now after 12:00 and the pain is just coming back.

It did not make me sleepy. I figured the first dose would.

I've been taking generic Ultram/Tramadol for 5+ years with no side-effects. Works very well for neuropathic pain.

Greatcod is correct per my experience. The ER is just a ploy the drug companies use to extend the big money of the patent. The generic works exactly the same except must be taken every 4-6 hours to achieve the same level of relief.

Did you ask the pharmacist if there was a comparable drug? It could be that generic is not available for the ER yet.

I've had great success using Tizanidine (brand name Zanaflex) to control my muscle pain. It doesn't just help stop the pain, it actually relaxes the msucles and stops the spasms.
