My son told me yesterday they may close the school if another child contracts MRSA.
One student has MRSA; one former student died recently from MRSA.
My son is concerned because of his immune level.

This is the time I am very thankful my son is on homebound instruction. With strep throat, chicken pox, the flu and now MRSA all going through the schools I would be more of a nervous wreck than I already am.

One thought that I hope will give you consolation. Most of us lymies never seem to catch anything else. We have discussed that phenomenon here before. We speculate it is because our immune systems are so kicked up fighting the lyme.
It also might explain why so many lyme cases go into auto-immune disorders.
That is not to say I would take unnecessary chances, but have you noticed your son catching colds or flu? If not, his lyme may be protecting him from other illnesses.
Feels good to think so anyway.
I have been reading up on it and they are saying 1-wash hands frequently and carrying waterless soap is a good idea. 2-don't share drinks, food, etc.
Sure hope this passes soon.

- Hey, do your son and his friends like ITALIAN food?
Is it time to make everyone smell like garlic so those who take the capsules blend in ?
I read that article! It was an excellent one to read!
I always swore by garlic anyway, I credit garlic for helping me with my LD in the beginning when NO doctor would help me!
I have a feeling the allicin in it will be our new antibiotic of the future!
Just my opinion
best wishes

Hi!
I totally agree with lov2ride
"Most of us lymies never seem to catch anything else. We have discussed that phenomenon here before. We speculate it is because our immune systems are so kicked up fighting the lyme."
I have a child with Lyme in elementary and when all his friends are sick with the flu, streph?throat, etc, etc, he is just fine; even if they had a sleepover together the day before getting sick.
Try to relax, it's not easy, but try; and wash hands as often as possible. Kids tend to go out, get in the house and grab something to eat, put signs on your cabinets and refrigerator so they don't forget to wash their hands.
