My situation seems to be changing. I'm sure it means progress, but am wondering about one thing.

Previously, I was chilled to the bone most of the time, and every once in a while I'd get a flash of fever.

I'm in the habit of taking a stinging hot detox bath, and started doing that after taking my 2nd dose of abx in the late afternoon. I heard the abxs (doxy and ceftin) are more powerful with a higher body temperature.

Now, it seems that everytime I take the abx, I get a fever. Yesterday, I had a fever most of the day. I modified the heat of the bath, but am wondering if even somewhat hot water is dangerous. I do have a cold glass of water on hand.

I really would like to burn those bad guys right out of my life!

i don't run a fever but i always feel really strange when i get out of hot bath...my legs go numb and burn sensation, and i feel nasueous sometimes and very weak and tired

it has to be killing them dang things off cuz i feel like crap, i've also noticed same reaction after being in a sauna ...can't stay in very long it makes me feel so bad..

i'm drained after i do either...sometimes after massages i notice i run a low fever ...all the poisons i guess...water water water ...flush flush them b------s out of my body...

In our zeal to get well, we can do ourselves a lot of harm.

The goal should be to feel better. Heavy herxing should be a sign you are going too strong and need to back up a step.

Slow and steady wins this battle.

Myahbv and luvs2ride,
Thank you for responding.

I actually feel really good taking a very hot bath. At least I did when I used to be chilled all the time. It was the only thing that could warm my core up.

Lately, when getting up, I feel a little weak, even with lower heat in the bath. But, I don't feel much different afterwards.

The abx give me the most symptoms, but I'm not more miserable than before treatment. In fact, yesterday I had a pretty good day, except for the fever.

If my treatment never gets worse than this first month, I'll be pleased.

Daisys,

I've been told by my N.D. and acupuncturist that it's better to take a warm bath than a hot bath for detoxing. Suggestions for an inexpensive detox bath are to add 1-2 cups of apple cider vinegar, or epsom salts, or baking soda to the water.

I've tried all 3 (separately, not together!). Apple cider vinegar is the easiest because it leaves less mess in the tub, and we all have better things to do than clean the tub.

Another thing to keep in mind is that when you heat the body (in a bath, in a sauna) etc., you are dilating your blood vessels, and this can increase the flow of medicines and supplements in the body. So by keeping the bath a little cooler, you can detox bad stuff out but not overwhelm yourself with your meds. I hope this makes sense!

hillaryb,
That's funny, my acupuncturist, when I told her I take detox baths, told me to be sure to keep the water hot enough to keep the core tempurature up.

I use epsom salt, baking powder, and a little hydrogen peroxide in my detox bath. I hadn't thought about apple cider vinegar, but that would keep the tub cleaner, wouldn't it?

That's a good point that the veins dilating is what makes the medicine stronger. I had wondered.

Thank you for your input.
