Hubby has been experimenting with this med in the hospital. Can't really tell how well it is working. Was hoping that this could replace the IV Demerol.

According to hubby's LLMD, Baclofen is a central nervous system muscle relaxer that often works when nothing else will.

PCP prescribed 10 mg PRN up to 3 times daily.

Has this med worked for others? Not much came up when I did a search.

Do you take it as needed or on a schedule?

Yesterday it was almost like the med backfired and caused increased tremors/myoclonus and muscle rigors. Ended up needing IV Demerol anyway.

My daughter is the patient at our house and hasn't tried Baclofen, but I did just ask the new pain doctor about it. He thought Zanaflex would work better for her. Her biggist issue is an intractable headache, so she doesn't have the same issues as your husband. I think he said Zanaflex worked better for neuro transmitter problems, but I can't really remember. It does seem to work better than flexeril for her, but hasn't really helped her headache.

I just wanted to suggest you check out an article at Lyndonville News. It is the November 1,2006, Volume 3,#2 issue, about saline drips helping CFS patients. It sounds wierd, but my daughter began having frequent pseudo seizures for no apperant reason and they became very infrequent after she had IV saline to help dehydration. I hadn't seen the article until a few weeks after the IV and I was amazed.

I am always on the look out for anything that might help my kid and thought I would pass it along.
