I'm freaking out here-- I just started adding Zithro 250mg/day to my Lyme treatment (also doing Bicillin shots).
About a week in and I'm having severe nerve issues. Shooting pains, tingling, complete numbness, ice cold sensations with white/bluish skin-- most of it is concentrated on my left side, starting a the tailbone ans shooting down my left lef.
Last night my entire left side (leg and arm included) went numb and completely paralyzed. It has been off/on throughout the day.
I'm so freaked out. I've had neuropathy issues before, but never this bad.
Is this part of a Zithro herx??? Need others' experiences, please!
Could it be permanent??? God, I hope not. It's really scary.

I'm on bicillin too, and I just added Zmax (a liquid form of Zithro). I've also been having shooting nerve pains since I added the Zmax. It feels very electrical--like shocks. Interestingly, it's also on my left side--weird!
Have you called your LLMD? Your pain & reactions sound pretty severe to me. I'm in the camp that you shouldn't put yourself through too much pain and anguish...

I don't really know your history and how long you've been in treatment, but unilateral numbness and paralysis were both part of my initial herx (I was on ceftin).
In fact, at the end of the first month on ceftin, I had full-body paralysis that landed me via ambulance in the ER. It lasted about 4 hours.
The next month, I had the same thing happen (though I didn't go to the hospital that time). It lasted exactly the same amount of time. And it's never happened since.
I also had my face go numb and, weirdly, my ankles. In fact, it felt like I had tight bands wrapped around both my ankles.
And you're right: all this stuff is so scary.
I agree with calling your LLMD. I talked with mine during that first episode.
I hope this all calms down for you, but I'd also let your LLMD know what's going on. He/she may want you to ramp down your abx dosage until some of this subsides. Plus, I don't know what your living situation is, but it might be good to have a SO, friend or family member around...or just let them know what you're going through.

Every time I start or add a new antibiotic I get the same thing. It usually starts a couple weeks into it. Biaxin did it to me. So did zithromax. I don't have paralysis though. Just numbness and tingling down my entire left side. It's very scary.
