I just saw an episode of Intervention (it comes on A&E).

http://www.aetv.com/listings/episode_details.do?episodeid=261565&airingid=262271

I had been seeing the previews for this particular episode for a few weeks.

Each time a preview came on Lyme Disease crossed my mind.

Well sure enough during the show Lyme Disease was mentioned.

Basically what happened the girl this episode is about, named Brooke, came down wish a rash (first clue). Then she started having a lot of pain, crippling pain.

She was diagnosed my a doctor, I mean duck, who said she had rheumatoid arthritis. She was put on paid meds.

Her Mom wasn't convinced and started doing research. She came across Lyme Disease and took her daughter to an llmd. Well wouldn't you know the test came back POSITIVE.

But is the part that just kills me. Brooke refused to treat Lyme Disease. She didn't want to be in any pain.. so she just sided with the dr. who diagnosed her with arthritis and continued taking pain meds.

She started abusing the pain meds and that is why her family was having an Intervention.

Intervention always gives updates at the end of the show. I was SO hoping that she would of started treating her lyme disease but NO.

It said she is on a pain management program. It said that her doctors still couldn't agree on her diagnosis. Give me a break! A positive test is a positive test.

I wish I could knock some sense into that girl! I'm just so appalled that she would just ignore the fact that she has Lyme Disease.

i was disgusted with this episode. She had Lyme disease! You could even see it in her face and her body movements. How sad that she isn't getting well. And the rehab is without a doubt going to do nothing to make her better. What a shame

I saw it, too.

I couldn't believe at the end - well, I could believe it - when they said "Doctors still cannot agree on a diagnosis."

I don't understand the resistance to Lyme disease diagnosis, I just don't get it.

She obviously had very inflamed joints and arthritis symptoms AND a positive Lyme result.

It was heartbreaking to see how much she was suffering.
