My dd 6yo always has tummy aches out of the blue. She can't stand the smell of food even if it's her favorite meal. She refuses to eat when it's meal time but when the smell is gone all of a sudden she is hungry.
If and when she does eat she acts like she is starving when she is done. The funny thing is... she always asks for fruit, most always a banana.

Is this weird? The other two kids are not like this and we never endorsed picky eating habits.

Her other symptoms are migrating leg and scalp pain, fatigue, night terrors, frequent viral infections, but I already know this may be lyme.

We just sent a WB out to IgeneX for her. We'll know something in about 2 weeks.

Thanks

It could be Lyme. My daughter complained of

Being nauseated all the time.

That and heavy legs, pain in joints, etc.

Although her Igenex test wasn't CDC positive, she had Lyme specific bands

And tons of symptoms. Herxed like crazy on zith.

Both my children (6 and 4)are being treated for Lyme along with my husband and myself. [Frown]

Hang in there.

Hugs,

Geneal

When my granddaughter was born she couldn't eat. I have never seen a newborn baby turn their head and gag when you tried to give them a bottle.

We had to feed her with a medicine dropper OFTEN, it was a full time job. IF she ate too much it came right back up. She would spike fevers over 103.0 out of the blue.

Never cried, was a very good baby, too good , infact. Has always been a picky eater, food would gag her if you even put it up to her mouth.

She lived on Gerber Organic Oatmeal and baby pedisure and a few odds and ends of other things till she was nearly 3. She still eats the Gerber Oatmeal. Her appetite has improved some. She will be 6 in March.

She was tested and started treatment in March of 2005 and stopped antibiotics about a year or a bit more later. Her IgM was band 30+ 31 IND 39+ 41 IND 58 IND 66 IND. IGG 30 IND, 31 IND, 39 ++, 41+++, 45 IND, 58 IND, 66 IND. All co infections were negative.

She started spiking fevers with vomiting again a bit more often than we though was normal from just starting school.

She is back on antibiotics. She seems to be doing better and her dark circles are getting lighter under her eyes.

Hope describing her symptoms has helped some. Although her Western Blot wasn't a strong positive, with the symptoms Dr. J and Dr. H started treatment. Her Mom is VERY positive for Lyme, Babs, Bart and Ehric.

HUGS,

Stomach pain at age six was my very FIRST symptom. I wasn't diagnosed until I was 34-years-old.

Please please get your child tested...I wish we had the knowledge back then...my life has been off and on hell because of TBD's.

Good for you for doing the math...

Best Wishes,
Clarissa

Thank You everyone.

I guess you could say she gets nauseated as well. She doesn't vomit but when we are all done she'll start eating whatever I made for dinner, then immediatley ask for fruit.

She also seems to want to eat every couple hours, just a little bit. She doesn't act hypoglycemic but will get a tummy ache or get sick if she doesn't have food in her stomach.

She readily eats foods that have no smell. Weird huh?

Icey,
Your gd WB's look pretty convincing to me.

Sorry she had to go back on abx. Have you looked into heavy metals at all for the reason why the lyme came back?

I'm suspecting heavy metals for my kids cuz I have HMT on top of the lyme.

GI seems to be main issue with my kids too. Both go through nausea, cant eat and youngest goes for banannas a lot, think its easier on the tummy. So yes I do believe it is associated with Lyme. Oldest WB positve. Havent had youngest tested yet. But I bet I already KNOW!

Seems people I talk with that found out they had

undiagnosed lyme before pregnancy and

childbirth...Their children have many of the

following symptoms:

cholic, stomach problems, sweaty heads and

bodies after naps and sleep, diaper rash with

bleeding on labia (even when kept very dry) odd
alergies and

sensitivities right from birth......

My first child is extremely ticklish!!!much more

than the average child. Major constipation for

first several years.

Believe his lyme is mostly in the vagas nerve,

and neuro.. Low blood pressure, innattention,

mild stammering. ONce in a while he has odd

twitches. Different places. Off and on

innatention. All things are off and on.

Usually he is fine...but it just happens with

stress. no joint pain. Never would have believed it was lyme.

2nd child more severe symptoms after birth.(15

mo. apart) Small rash on chin the size of a

quarter..cholic, sweaty head, allergic to

dairy, animals, trees, grass, stomach always

upset, motion sickness.

At 14 yrs old more severe symptoms that alerted

me to possible lyme and hence the test at 16

which is positive. Asthma, hard to breath

sometimes, migrains, knee, shoulder, hip pain,

acid reflux,myalgias, cold extremeties...low

body temp of 94 degrees. Very weak immune

system...

We are all geting treated now...

The sooner you get the child tested....the

better the prognosis...I wish I had know when

they were very young! I wish my OBGYN knew the

signs after childbirth!

When I gave birth to both...I was not able to

breast feed...and I truely did my

best...inflamation.. Also for both pregnancies,

I was not able to urinate for 2 weeks after

birth...was on a catheter..."inflamation"

Got the flu after each birth as

well...severe...as well as a kidney infection!

I had no clue it was lyme...now I know.

Pass all you learn onto others...save someone's

life! Someone did that for me!!!!

About sensitivities to smell, touch and sound...Just re-read your post ....and I remember that

my son has problems with food textures...most kids do

at first...but he's 16 now. This is still a problem.

He can tell me inteligently now that all his life

textures and mixed food textures and food colors

bother him, and make him gag mentally and

literally...hence no soup, stews, or

salads...everything must be seperate...and eaten

seperately...We are used to this as a family

now, and have adapted...he actually eats very

healthy this way. He cannot truely stomach mixed

flavors. This is not just a personal preference

for him. NO salad dressings or tomato sauce on

pasta!!!This is a real thing for him. It's in

the line of obsessive compulsive family of

symptoms...Neuro. It will be interesting as he

is treated for lyme, if any of this changes.

Also he is still very ticklish to anyone

gently touching him arm, or leg. He cannot

control his laughter...and it is embarrasing

for him at this age.

I just saw on a tv news show a young girl who

had seizures every time music was

played...could not go in malls, or walk near a

car playng rap, etc, without having a seizure)

no one believed her until they experimented with

her...and DR's saw her seizure happen with music

only. They gave her a surgery to remove a part

of her brain that was over sentsitive to the

music...now she is fine they say. (they

probally did not test her for lyme) Your child

may have a smell sensitivity...that is very

real...it may not be lyme, but you would be

very wise to test and eliminate lyme first!!!

Everyone on this site knows too much now to

tell you otherwise!

I am 50 years old and have had smell

sensitivities my whole life...not as severe as

you mention. But cigarettes are the worse! I

can smell them in a car with the windows up on

a highway three cars ahead of me. I actually

get ill feeling. It's annoying to have

sensitivities that others in your family do not

have...(especially when you are a child and

your parents do not understand the severity of

it) My parents were smokers and it was torture

for me. please allow her to tell you what she

is experiencing, believe her, and help her.

Thank you lymeparfait for your story.

I had my dh read the post because of my severe cognitive symptoms.

I have had two of my children tested, awaiting results, should be one more week now.

I too have a son who stammers, squints eyes or eyes roll back in his head when he talks.

My lyme symptoms came full force with the pregnancy of my first child.

I could not breast feed as well. Constant mastitis, I dryed up after 2 months despite trying everything I could to increase milk.

Colic... yes that too.

I too use to laugh uncontrollably while in school. I use to get in trouble all the time for this, and I had no control over it. I use to put my fingers in my ears all the time so I wouldn't hear anything.

I just just diagnosed lyme in Nov 07.

Hi!

I think your child's symptoms could be related to Lyme Disease. Since you have Lyme, she could have gotten it congenitally. Is your daughter going to a LLMD?

Posted by TS96 (Member # 14048) on :

Yes Mystery she will be going to an llmd, as soon as I can find a good one.

Hello,

I am sorry you are dealing with this. I know I was sick as a child, alot.

But I can remember having to chew bottles of Maalox, (probably full of aluminum) when I was 6 I had such horrible stomach aches.

I would cry everyday and hang on my mother. I know it was lyme.

I am 42 now (dx 1/05) and have 4 children with congenital lyme and atleast 2 that were reinfected.

I would also suspect Heavy metal poisoning as well. I have read especially meat is very hard to look at without getting nausous when you have alumium poisioning.

It still grosses me out to buy meat, just like it did when I was pregnant.

All 5 of us have very high levels of mercury, arsenic, uranium, alum, lead is 100% etc.

Hope you get your tests back soon and find a great llmd who is willing to treat not only the lyme but all coinfections, parasites, viruses, metals, hypercoagulation and everything else that comes in lyme soup.

Best wishes,
lyme x 9
