This is a case study, a treatment performed on one individual, though he has used this medication (etanercept) on other patients as well. However, etanercept is also being used in rheumatoid arthritis, another auto-immune disease. It might be interesting to consider etanercept in neuro-Lyme as well.

Tobinick, E.L. and Gross, H. (2008). Rapid cognitive improvement in Alzheimer's disease following perispinal etanercept administration, Journal of Neuroinflammation 5(2). Retrieved from
http://www.jneuroinflammation.com/content/5/1/2

Notable in this study is that significant improvement has been seen within minutes of administering etanercept, and even short-term dosing has resulted in measurable benefit.

According to the product labeling of infliximab, etanercept, and adalimumab, these drugs are in the class of immunosuppressants.{{NOT FOR ME After a number of studies and reports of adverse reactions in patients receiving anti-TNF alpha therapy (including serious and sometimes fatal blood disorders, infections, rare reports of lymphoma and solid tissue cancers, rare reports of serious liver injury, and rare reports of demyelinating central nervous system disorders), rare reports of congestive heart failure, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration issued a warning to doctors appearing in the respective product labeling of these drugs instructing them to screen and monitor potential patients more carefully.

Geez Tree,

I'm sure glad you're around. I was going to look that stuff up and see what possible good it would do a lymie...

now because of you I don't have to....

I wonder if these alzeimers ducktors even know that the possible cause of that disease is neuroborreliosis.

Even if the drug were to replenish cognitive abilities. If the cause of the disease is left

to flourish, the result will be a depletion of anything gained by the use of this medication.

Especially if it is an immunosuppresant....these dang ducks and drug

companies can't seem to get it right! STOP BLOCKING our bodies from doing what they're

doing right! Quit Blocking the bodies natural abilities just because you have'nt discovered or

bothered to make something to irradicate the causes.

I feel that once I was treated successfully with IV antibiotics that took my brain

fog/encephalitis away. My brain used it's OWN ability to re-route the neurons and synapses to

regain what I had lost due to the infection. Contrary to IDSA and Mainstream Medicine, I

don't believe in RESIDUAL dammage caused by Bb or any TBD's that cannot be reversed. Which is

how they describe what is happening to people who have chronic/persistant/resistant/active

infection. NOT RESIDUAL DAMMAGE THAT CANNOT BE REVERSED!

Get rid of the CAUSE for the infection and dammage and the body and brain WILL find a way around the dammaged parts.
