Uh oh. I am getting sick with some sort of bug. I babysat and apparently the little boy had strep throat a few days ago, but the mom told me he was fine.

I hope I'm not getting strep. My throat, head and lymphs all hurt. Is there something I can take/do to prevent getting sick? My LLMD told me the one thing I had to do was "make SURE" I don't get sick. [Frown]

Any herb/supplements/vitamin ideas would be appreciated...quickly, please! [kiss]

If he was on abx for strep for at least 24 hours before you had contact with him then it's not the strep.

Since she told you it was a few days earlier I'm guessing this is probably something else.

It could be, but then his older sister and I were watching TV and she asked me to make her tea because she said her throat was hurting. I hope it's not strep.

But, assuming it's not strep, is there something I can take to boost my immune system?

Vitamin C.

Lots of sleep (LOL).

Sunshine (I think you have it there!).

Lots of water.

I used to have pretty good success with good old Vitamin C/ zinc lozenges at the first sign of a cold, but use caution as zinc can cause nausea on an empty stomach. Also, I used to take Sambucol, which is Black Elderberry syrup.

Hope it passes quickly.... [Smile]

olive leaf extract always helped me combat colds/flus.

Thanks for all your suggestions. Heiwalove, funnily enough I am taking PLENTY of Olive Leaf Extract daily.

I will go find some Vitamin C and take it. I hope it helps...as this seems to be progressing quickly. [Wink]

At one time, when I had a flu bug that turned into a Respiratory flu, and I was ON antibiotics for lyme, the only thing that helped me really

was RAW Garlic, I did this, 3-4 cloves for 10 days or so, then had to stop because it started to bother my stomach.

I was so ill with this flu, some had died in our town from it, I believe because my Immune was so down from lyme, I got so sick, I thought I was going to die, because it affected my breathing,

and Raw Garlic, was like a miracle, and I recently read on the Internet some news that Raw Garlic was very effective for the flu,

however you really smell if you take it, I dont work now, so I was ok, just avoid people so they cannot smell you if you can.

Yes, raw garlic would be excellent!

Dr. K. says to take it at the END of a meal when stomach acid is most diluted - stomach acid inactivates the allicin in garlic, which is the ingredient needed to fight the microbes....

Do you guys just eat raw garlic cloves whole or do you do something to make it more palatable?

I'm coming down with something as well but don't think I could stomach raw garlic.

Greetings [Smile]

If I feel like I'm coming down with something I take Airborne, it works great. Try it one of these times, you'll like it.

Airborne was invented by a Teacher that was always getting sick in school, she's a millionaire now. [Smile]

Gosh, Laura - it has been so long since I used raw garlic, I can't remember how I got the stuff down. [Frown]

I recently ordered the freeze-dried garlic from BioPure - a little pricey but this process is supposed to preserve the integrity of the allicin. I have not yet taken any of the freeze-dried garlic but several people on the board use it.

I have heard good things about Airborne.... and Occilococcinum (at the onset of a flu-type illness).
