does anyone know if you can get trigger points in the top of your head. I have them in the sides and back of my head that cause alot of headaches but for the past week now I have had a headache that feels like it is in the top of my head.
But, to me it is the skin/tissue that hurts and not my actual head

Yes. I have scalp pain, too. I'm not sure what it is or why. I think continuing to detox, infra red saunas, herbs, etc. will eventually work whatever it is out. I want to try some cranial sacral massage but I've been kind of short on money. It may help.

Yes, the top of the head has been one of the places that seems to be a favorite when I begin a new
or come back to some of the abxs I've done like ketek and ceftin....

I get this sometimes. It feels like it's bruised if I touch it.
I think it's actually nerve pain. I often get it with what I call my line of pain. I can draw a line up the right side of my body and connect the points of pain sometimes.
I've had this since my symptoms began when I was 14. It's usually more irritating then extremely painful.

It's referred pain from the muscle spazms on the back of your skull. Want to be sure?? Jam you knuckle as hard as you can into the spazm for as long as you can take it. More than likely the spot you jammed will ache but the top of your skull won't.
If you can't get someone to give you trigger point injections of lidocaine to bust up the spazms, use lotion with Arnica, heating pad, and frequent pressure on the spazms. My LLMD says it's like a thumb war - if you keep pressing, sooner or later something's got to give.

Count me in the scalp pain. Sometimes my scalp is tender, other times I have a pain in the back of my head. Neither are fun.

I was seeing a neuro-massage therapists. I was
in extreme pain when he pressed on the back of my
head. A lot of muscles tie through there as well
as nerves. He would massage the sides of my head
as well. It really helped in the long run, but
was very painful while being massaged.
We all know how Lyme effects our muscles and
nerves. Start stretching thoses muscles! Neck
side to side streching. Turn your head and try
to get your chin even with your shoulder. I was
told NOT to stretch my head backwards. Also
rubbing from front to back above your ears
everyday to losen tissue up off of your bone
helps. My scalp was practically stuck to my
head! And now it feels more sponge like.
Thinking back, I haven't had much pain in my neck
and scalp anymore. I also take magnesium. That
helps too. Hope this helps!

Well, now the headache has spread from the top of my head down into my forehead and starting to get cold and tingly sensations. I have never felt this before...

have you been able to get in touch with your LLMD about it? Since it's a new symptom... I don't want to be a freaker-outer, but have you thought about going to the ER to have things checked out?
(BTW, I totally crack up whenever I see your "fun with steak" animation. Again and again and again.)
Feel better soon!

Byron, this is how my scalp pain would travel unless I got trigger point injections. Starts in the back, travels over the forehead and down to the eye.
Another fun one is when it wraps around the side, through the ear (and often the top of the ear would get red and painful), and end in jaw pain.
Spazms restrict blood flow. Try the pressure and heat on the SOURCE of the pain, which typically would be on the back of the scalp where all the muscles are. Trigger point or Prolotherapy would work wonders.
I spent almost a year in so much pain from these. I couldn't even touch my hair without being in pain. The top of my head felt like it had been bashed in with a hammer.
A series of Trigger point injections and IV Magnesium eliminated the problem.
Hope this helps.

Cranio-sacral work can help relieve the blockages that can occur in the venous sinus, which runs from the top of the head to the jugular. I just had work done for that and it got rid of my headache. Though, I was extremely tired after - had to take a nap.
