New symptoms of Lyme and co's pop up all the time. However, if I were you.. I would look at the possible relationship of the Ocuvite and your new issues with the eye lid.

You started a new drug and you got a new reaction. Seems logical to say the two are related.

The real question is this reaction due to a die off, (i.e. the Ocuvite is working) or is it a negitive reaction to the drug.

I would stop the Ocuvite for a few days and see if the two are related. Once you figure out if they are.. Then you decide if it's worth starting it again.

I have bouts of that as well. For me, it's usually relieved by allergy drops in the eyes.

You can buy it over the counter. I use "Opcon-A".... check it out. You may also want to use some drops to add moisture in your eyes.

Maybe it's just from the dry winter air??

just don, I had this exact eye thing back in Sept 07. I tried to self treat myself. I don't recommend that.

After 4 days of hot compresses and running some unknown freqs on myself, it exploded into a trip to ER clinic one morning.

It was so infected and swollen, it looked like Ali did a number on my eye in the boxing ring.
It hurt like hell too.

The ER doc tried to burst it and couldn't. It was so thick and infected, he numbed my eye to take a needle to it. No go.

He did some serious eye tests on me and finally decided it was a severe staph or strep infection and gave me eye abx to apply many times a day.

He told me if it didn't start to drain in 24 hrs I should get in for serious eye infection care.
Oh yeah, I refused oral abx.

My Intern doctor found out about this 3 weeks later and he was mad at me for refusing oral abx. He told me more abx drops for eyes for several more days and he said you will do oral abx.

Well that's not the end of the story. But for now, I'm asking you to not self medicate and treat yourself without having a Dr. look at it first.

I know we get tired of doc appt. We sometimes try to take care of ourselves. But rubbing your eyes alot????? You could of pick up staph or strep in the eye? Oral abx get to the eyes how quickly?

i wake up every morning with a red swollen eyelid on the left side of my face. it's puffy and droops. also the left side of my nose is puffy also.

the only thing that helped me was flagyl for some reason. dang, i can't get any doc to give it to me.

drives me crazy, that droopy eyelid.

I've had eye problems ever since I got Lyme. I use sovreign silver right in the eyes. It helps me tremendously.

About a month after I had this horrible looking eye, I was looking around at a tick/spider medical story. They showed pix of bites.

I freaked because one girls eye looked exactly like my did the day I went to ER. In this story according to the doc that treated her, it was caused from a spider bite of the eye lid????

Now I've had my share of spider bites the last few years. Well ever since we've moved into our new condo. There is some mean son of gun spider, that comes out at night and attacks me.

He doesn't bite my husband, it's me he's after. I've had two on my face, chin area that have no doubt been brown recluse bites. I've used my rife and my own treatments at home for those two bites. It took some days of work to get the infection out of me, but I did it.

But I have my doubts that this eye thing was caused by a spider bite????? Somehow, somewhere I picked up some nasty bacteria and it landed in my eye and eye lid area. Hurts just thinking about it.

I had used my rife machine on myself for stye infections. The freqs I was using were not the freqs I needed. I didn't know stye is considered a staph infection. They can and will get serious sometimes. So once I learned that bit of info, I used my rife and fired away with staph/strep freqs twice a day for a week.

Then I did the abx Biaxin. Not good. Not good decision at all.

Well yesterday I noticed it morphed into a white pimple on edge of eyelid. REAL sore

Was at the puter and rubbed it lightly cause it hurt so much,,,eye got blurry and something swimming in it,cleaned it all out and

felt MUCH better,,later it drained some more, eye blurry again.

TODAY it almost feels normal,back to about normal shape and size.

Altho looking in the mirror I have a tremendous 'bag' under that eye.

LOOKS like somebody punched me in the eye,,,OR age old excuse,ran into a door.

feels fine and no doubt in a couple days will be ALL back to normal.

Question remains,,,IS this what you call a sty??

AND thanks for ALL the support meanwhile,,,guess this time 'nothing' turned out to be the RIGHT therapy!!

Sorry you were having eye problems. I agree with tutu and others. In addition...

Dry eyes can be a problem and can cause you to rub them with hands that may not be sterile at all times. Infection can set in quickly.

I am concerned especially since I know what you do around there... and know you have more than normal exposure to potential pathogens, bacteria, etc.

May I suggest?

An eye doctor- NOT an optomitrist (sp?).. but rather an opthamologist would be the one to see.

In the meantime.. I know many many Lyme patients have very dry eyes. When you have dry eyes, each time a tiny speck of dust gets on your eyeballs it can scratch them.

Note- Often people with very dry eyes have "watery" eyes to.... making them think they can't possible have dry eye problems.

The excessive tearing is the bodies way to try to help correct the problem... so don't think just because you have tears or extra moisture at times that it means your eyes aren't dry.

I would suggest getting a bottle of natural tears from the pharmacy and using it as much as it says to. Keep it in your jeans pocket if you must.

Also, I would get a bottle of the Opcon A as tutu mentioned. I would NOT use it though until after putting the natural tears in. It can burn like the dickens if your eyes are dry.

I combine the two by using the natural tears first.. and while still damp I add the Opcon A.

Within minutes I get relief.

As you know I am NOT a doctor... but I do care.

It is the point of main infection draining? My wasn't draining until adding abx gel into my eye.

Then it was the nastiest looking green stuff that stared coming out of it. Nasty. It would literally run out the corner of my eye as the infection over flowed the corner.

A stye is usually a red swollen area on the lid. I used to get stye's all the time as a teen-ager. They weren't any big deal.

That's why I thought I could treat this eye thing myself. I hadn't had a stye in years. I thought it was just one mean stye. Then all hell broke loose and I realized this wasn't just some little stye that was going away.

My eye lid was so swollen and felt like it was going to explode, it was stretched and infected so. It was then the entire upper eye lid.

I couldn't drive myself to the ER that morning, due to that eye being useless. I was in so much pain, I wouldn't of drove anyway. I made my husband take me to the nearest small emergency room very close to our home. I couldn't travel further to a full blown hospital with ER.

Believe me we all know the pain that many of us deal with on a daily bases. This was scary horrible pain. I know when I can't play doc myself.

I'm confused on upper? lower? lids?

Another possibility......if this is located in the area closest to your nose, and on the lower lid
then it could be an infected tear duct, which will puss up, get red, swell the eye and sometimes itch.

Hot compresses, eye abx and or eye drops, carefully rubbing the infected area to loosen the blockage AND an appointment with the appropriate Dr will do the trick.

Pam: Is your eye okay now? Did you have any permanent damage or disfugurement from that horrible episode?

I am so sorry you had to go through that...I hope it's okay now.

JustDon: I had something called a chalazian about 4 years ago (probably Bart now that I see in hindsight).

Anyway, it's something like a sty but more like a plugged tear duct, like a pimple but near your eye. Mine was under my eyelashes, near corner of eye on lower lid.

Opthamologist gave me drops and told me to do hot compresses. It never resolved so a few months later, they literally had to pull my lower lid back (after numbing, of course), cut the chalazian open and squeeze the stuff out of it. Sooooooo disgusting but it went away...did not return.

I'm so weird that I asked to see what was inside the thing...it just looked like yellow pus. The outter shell had to be CUT because it was hard. ewwwwwwww!

Wretched experience...just another foreshadowing symptom of something called BART to eventually surface.

No the eye healed externally. But that is the eye that my eye doc in Dec said I had thinning of the retina in one area of that eye.

But that oral abx Biaxin sent my staph or steph infection into my throat and ears for 4 weeks. It took many freqs with my rife machine to kill or it made that super bacteria go into hiding and leave my eyes, ears and throat alone.

When I say I feel like I'm at war. I mean that. I will not stop until I've figured this whole big puzzle out and done everything I know or could know to do.

I will not allow this lyme & company to destroy me. Sometimes it has the upper hand and has me down and out. But I do respond with some action.

It might be the wrong action? I move on and figure it out another way. Nobody on this board knows me. Well there are a few of you that have talked with me on the phone or met me in person.

I'm a pretty determined woman. I don't know if what I've learned can help anyone else? But I've got a feeling there are some people that can have the same attitude.

Many don't agree or see my experiences as their cup of tea(to put it nicely). That's fine, because I hardly agree with everything I see some recommend of this board also?

I could go quietly away and not try to help others that might be in that boat I was in. I'm not that type of person. If somethings have helped me, maybe just maybe there is someone I can help also.

Gigi went away because she just couldn't handle the negativety on this board by some. I will not go away until each and every one that wants or needs help is helped.

In other words, I will never ever forget where I've been. Until there is a "cure" and the real story is known by all with lyme & company? Or it kills me? Believe me, it's not killing me anytime soon.

Clarrisa, so if you call that being a warrior? I call it determination and help for others. Can't never did anything!!!!!!

Wow, I hope you didn't think I meant that in a negative way...I meant you're a survivor, relentless, strong. To me, a warrior is a POSITIVE comparison (in my mind).
