I was just wondering if this happens to anyone else. I have this strange sensation in my spine that feels like pressure and kind of a tugging/tight sensation. I have also had episodes during the night where I wake up choking on nothing and gasping for air, almost like I stopped breathing. It's terrifying!
Has this happened to anyone else? Maybe it's a herx? I recently switched from Ceftin to Zithromax to cover Mycoplasma and just upped my dose.
While I'm at it I'll ask if anyone has pain in one side of their neck radiating up to their ear, sinus and eye with the pupil on that side more dilated? This has been happening on my right side for about a year. All the other symptoms kind of come and go but this one is more constant.

I can relate in a couple areas for sure.
I also wake up once in a while choking/coughing and sometimes my throat hurts for a short while after. It's only once in a while though and not very often. I've worried about it being sleep apnea has I know that can cause someone to wake up choking/gasping for air.
I haven't had a sleep study done though because my LLMD isn't very open to it for some strange reason. He thinks it's probably post nasal drip or acid reflux...
AND YES about having one pupil more dialated than the other. My right pupil is always more dialated that the other one (this and the headaches always on that right side temple area and a few other things is what caused a duck to make me have an MRI of my brain - which came back clear). I also have/had sinus-like pain in the right side of my head. It used to be so much worse, and I don't really have it NOW -- I'd have the sinus-like pain in that part of my head when bending over to pick something up, etc.
After treatment, it pretty much subsided. But if/when I have headaches I ALWAYS have headaches in the exact same spot and guess where that is -- the right side temple area of my head.
I had an eye doctor appointment last year and the doctor mentioned that I had some nerves behind the eye that were messed up. The first thing I thought was lyme (this was before I was diagnosed though)... I'd be really interested to see when I go back to the eye doctor if the nerves are okay now since I don't have those sinus-like head pains anymore and the fact that I'm being treated now as well.

It seems like there is some kind of inflammation in my spine. Also in my diaphragm, lungs and trachea.
I'm wondering if anyone knows exactly how well Zithromax penetrates the blood/brain barrier. I'm hoping that the Zithromax is penetrating my nervous system and that is why this is happening. I can deal with it (mentally) if that's why.
I'm hoping it's not the opposite and that switching from Ceftin to Zithromax is letting the bugs have a party in my nervous system b/c they're not getting touched. Anyone have any opinions on that?

I have very similar symptoms and being treated for Bart right now with Rifampin, Zith with Plaquenil. They have all gotten worse on treatment. My left eye is so swollen and blood shot as well as fluid swelling underneath it. Whatever we have in our nervous systems must be similar. Not sure what it is since I test neg for mycoplasmas and Bart.

Look up Horners syndrome and the eye, pupil. I am going to get a MRA. MRA of the brain and a CT of the chest. Has something to do with the nerves, I forget should have written it down. Also lyme and Horners syndrome.
I would wile away the hours, converging with the flowers, consulting with the rain and my head I'd be scratching if I thought there was something hatching if I only had a brain.

Opps sorry meant to sat MRI, MRA of the brain including the base of skull and neck. There is a nerve, forget the name that runs down along the lung region up through to the brain/eye.
My left eyeball swells up don't know if that's the answer but I'm getting checked out for Horners which may account for some symptoms?

gasping sure sounds like sleep apena, get a sleep study done . a cpap will fix that up for ya. Doc

It a machine that pushes air (not ox ) into your nose to keep your air way open. u need a sleep study to dx u to get one ,Doc

I noticed one of your posts. Does you eyeball actually swell up or just the eye socket or both? My eyeball actaully swells and like good doctors if they can't figure it out they send you on your merry way without any additonal research. So it in my HONEST opinion don't go to the Eye Care Center in CT.

Do you know if you snore? Most, but not all people with sleep apnea also snore.
Hubby has sleep apnea and uses a CPAP. This is a fairly common problem that many Lyme patients have.
I know that one eye being more dilated is a neurological problem, but can't remember what it means exactly.
I would discuss both issues with your LLMD. They may suggest further testing.
