I have been having head pressure/ear-ringing and sound sensitivity building up for about four weeks.

LLMD said to go on a couple day antibiotic break. I've been off for two days and my ears are stuffed up yet ringing with sound sensitivity building up. Ears also ache a little and my head pressure is worst lying down.

Can't take decongestants and Benedryl isn't touching it.

I feel jumpy and crazy and nauseous. had been doing well. Can't figure out if it's Lyme/Babs or bad reaction to meds or allergies.

Almost went to ER tonight. anyone familiar with these symptoms and what helps?

Thanks in advance,

wiserforit

tori, sorry to read about all your pain sensitivities, etc, and ER visit.... [toilet]

what helps me when i go to bed, is having the radio on to my FAVORITE MUSIC very soft and barely audible to compete with all the sounds i hear otherwise from street/neighbors/in our home.

best wishes until someone else offers advise. [group hug] [kiss]

Magnesium glycinate or citrate - to bowel tolerance helps me the most.

Glycine, Taurine, calcium, zinc, also help. B-6 night, B-complex day.

Fish oil (or krill oil) also.

I had this on zithromax and my neighbor, who is a RN

Had it too with zithromax.

It takes many days to clear this from your system.

Not one or two.

She (my neighbor) hypothesizes that over time, zithromax

Has built up to a level that was actually toxic for her.

Causing the same symptoms you have.

What meds are you on?

Hugs,

Geneal

Thank you everyone for your responses.

I am still fairly miserable with migraine on top of it all. The stuffy ringing ears are horrible.

Bettyg, I'll try the music... last night I wanted silence, but perhaps barely audible music would distract me from the ear ringing.

Keebler -- I'll try some of your vitamin suggestions. I 'm good with fish oil and possibly the b6 and B's -- magnesium and I don't always mix, since I get an upset gut.

Geneal -- I've been taking 875 mg. Amox 7x daily along with 62.5 Malarone. My goal was to get up to 10 Amox a day as per LLMDs suggestion.

I think you may be right about the toxicity issue. I also had this happen on Zithromax. I was on the Zith for 4 1/2 months and had to stop. I've been creeping along on the Amox for a year.

If it is the Amox, it's a real bummer since I improved so much on it.

I guess an abx change is in my near future.

thanks for your support, guys [group hug]

I have these same exact symptoms- been on zith for 3 months now, clogged ears/thumping/pulsing/ringing started around a month ago.

I also have more ear sensitivity. When my almost 3 year old son is playing and talking very loud- it bothers me so much! I can actually feel vibrations in my ears from high pitched and loud noises.

I was trying to stick it out on the zith. because before that I was already on biaxin/plaquenil and wasn't sure that the biaxin would be effective for me at this point. I have only been off it for 3 months, so wasn't sure if there is a resistance to it now.

I would like to try to stay on the mepron, so biaxin would probably have to be my next step.

Geneal- how long did it take for your ears to get better after going off zith?

thanks!

I have this too. Actually, my only symptoms. I have had a headache everyday for 4 months along with head pressure.

The ear ringing and feeling that my ears are clogged started about a month ago...have it everyday.

I am on IM Bicillin for last month. IV rocephin for the previous 3 months.

I was starting to think Bart is the cause??? [Mad]

I get this too and i find breathing into a bowl of boiling water with good sea salt really helps relive the pressure.

Tinnitus is a side effect of lyme. Lyme seems to have an affinity for the TMJ, temporo-mandibular joint. And the TMJ is a syndrome unto itself causing tinnitus and potential sinus issues including stuffiness.

I have had the same issue and magnesium helps some.

I also found grapefruit seed extract really helpful as well. Get the liquid form of the GSE and put about 5 drops in about 6oz warm water. Use a rubber irrigation bulb you can get at a pharmacy. Fill the bulb with the liquid and irrigate both ears. Be careful not to insert the tip of the bulb into the ear and then apply pressure to the bulb. After the ears I would refill the bulb and do it for both nostrils. Be careful not to inhale, just let the fluid pass as it is.

The advantage of using GSE in this manner. It kills any surface pathogens and can inhibit lyme from the TMJ. It does a real good job of clearing sinus issues.

Even better is to see a whole-body dentist who can assess any TMJ issues.

This has been one of my worst symptoms, along with pain in every nerve above my shoulders.

I couldn't use cholestyramine or chlorella to detox, but liquid bentonite is safe and cheap and easy. I got mine at Vitamin Shoppe, "Sonne's no. 7." You can even swish it around in your mouth.

I haven't figured out the best way to use it, but you can follow the directions on the bottle.

It doesn't upset my stomach, which is good since I'm taking Tindamax which is really hard on the digestive system.

Lyrica has also knocked down my pain, and I use hydrocodone if it gets really bad. They both also make the noise easier to accept.

It also helps me to put heat on my face.

The ringing is terrible, it's like having a freight train running through your head.

Do your ears wiggle? Mine do. It's so bizarre.

It took about a week for the ear ringing/pressure thing

To go away when I went off zith.

I already have a congenital hearing loss in my left ear.

The good news is that you only need one good ear,

But "sticking" it out with zithromax is not worth the risk to

What hearing I have left.

My neighbor stopped in about 10 days ago...

She had clearing of head pressure in 48-72 hours.

Said it made a huge difference in how she felt.

Hugs,

Geneal

Interesting Geneal since I also have the ear pressure that is making me cry constantly. t had gone away and now it is back but more like pressure. I have been on zith 250 once a day for three months with the Mepron. I did not think that was too much? What would you take with the lovely Mepron if not zith?
I was on IV Rocephin for three months, then Penicillin VK for almost three weeks. I had to stop ecaus eit is killing my stomach. I cannot do amox or penicillin?
He is switching me on Monday but I have no idea what to try next. My neuropathy has gotten worse since off the Penicillin already...only two days.
I am getting really depressed and fearful! I am so sick of crying!

Yes, I get pressure in my head AND neck. Don't know why though.

Yes, I do get the pressure in head and neck. I used to think my neck was causing a headache with pressure, but now I just don't know.

My neck never needs much of an excuse to get involved and join in with other symptoms!
