My 20 year-old daughter started IV Rocephin about 3 or 4 weeks ago but has been herxing for approximately the last 2 weeks.
She has had increased joint pain in many of her joints but especially in her hands and shoulders.
Can this type of herxing last for a while or should it go away pretty soon? We're new to the herxing process. As I understand it, herxing is a good sign. Is that true?

I've only been on orals so far but I agree with Trish4.
You might consider talking to her LLMD about detoxing since the herx reaction is a result of die-off. The sooner the body can get rid of the toxins, the less herx symptoms.
It is thought by some LLMD's that some people (~25%) have a genetic problem in getting rid of biotoxins (some particularly the lyme toxins). There are tests for that.
Some LLMD's use actos and cholestyramine to help get rid of the biotoxins, especially in people who have a genetic problem getting rid of them.
This theory is not accepted yet by the mainstream medical community - it is relatively new and there isn't enough formal research yet - but there is strong evidence to support it in my opinion. Borrelia Biotoxins by Dr. S
Edited to add: There are other types of detox that you can employ besides biotoxin detox. Many people support the liver while on treatment and there are also drainage remedies that help open the drainage pathways.
Metals are released when bugs die and this can also create symptoms so many of us use binding agents to bind the metals and remove them from the body. All of this should be checked with her doctor to make sure they are compatible with her treatment. Terry
