What does it mean?
Just finished 8 months of Mepron/art, then retested with these results:

IgM: 1:80
IgG: <1:40

Apparently I got babs when I got lyme, 2 1/2 years ago. But above was my first babs treatment.

Been treating lyme for a few years now.

Where did you get the test done? I am negative for microti but LLP thinks I might have duncani.

You need the Lab ranges in order to interpret your results..

Normally they give you the ranges- it'd be something like
<1.00 = negative
1.01 - 1.4 Equivocal
>1.4 Positive

An IgM antibody lives about 3 months and usually means infection is active.. IgG antibodies live longer, and are produced as the IgMs die..

I haven't been able to get a straight answer from my LLMD as to the IGM and IGG thing. The closest I've gotten is "we don't know" when I asked whether antibody responses to Lyme and co will remain always, and whether IGM positive means active infection. He did say "we would like to see the IGM move to IGG", so I guess that is sort of answering the question.

Your IGM is low if that's any help.

I treated with Biaxin/Mepron for 9 months, then switched to Malarone/Lariam. I have taken Artemisia with both these combinations. I have been on continual babs treatment for 15 months now. At one point for six weeks all I was taking for it was Lariam, but had to add back the Malarone/Artemisia because symptoms returned.

I know someone on the board who was told he would never get rid of Ducani without Artemisia .... our famous Dr. J told him this.

I don't know what the titers mean ..... I don't think there's a clear answer for that question.

Thanks Bpeck, CD57 and Sixgoofykids.

It does help to hear others experiances.

Hey CD57, I think we must have the same doctor..... sounds just like his responses to my questions. Great doc, but I always come out thinking, 'did he answer that question?'

My IgM has gone down from 1:620 to 1:80. I just hope this is enough to end treatment.

I have been real tired this week, it makes me nervous. I don't want to be paranoid. Will I always be looking over my shoulder? SHOULD I forever be looking over my shoulder?

Von
