I usually post on behalf of my daughter, who has had Lyme and Babesia for 9 years now. Just diagnosed last year.

She is being treated by an LLMD (IV Rocephin, Mepron, etc.) and has been improving over the past 2 months.

My PCP just did a Lyme and Babesia test on me. The Lyme came back negative but he informed me that the IgG for Babesia came back "abnormal".

He said I'm not to worry though since 7-21% of all people in endemic areas show antibodies for Babesia.

He will not do any further testing, and certainly not using IGENEX, which is the lab that found my daughter to be positive.

He said since the tests done through Quest labs, which my HMO uses, came back negative, no further testing is necessary.

Here is a listing of my symptoms:

- Paripheral Neuropathy in my feet...still progressing. Tests for diabetes and B12 definciency came back negative.

- Enlarged mediastinal lymph nodes

- Asthma

- Allergies

- Gout

- Elevated Blood Pressure

- Tinnitus

- Muscle twitching now and then in arms and legs

- Sore joints throughout my body that is very severe at times. I ask my wife at times, "How can anyone possible hurt this much in their joints?". No swelling in any of my joints though.

- Lower back pain

My daughters doctor (a very progressive and rare PCP) said she would do the IGENEX tests for me.

What's the take on these symptoms and Lyme, Babesia and Bartonella?

Is it possible to have "abnormal" Babesia results without the Babesia causing any problems as my PCP has suggested?

Thanks very much, Paul.

I would pursue further testing and see an LLMD .... especially in light of the abnormal babesia result!

No, it's not normal to have the health complaints you have! Please see an LLMD asap before this becomes disabling for you!

You need to see an LLMD. Babesiosis, which you

have (likely along with Lyme), kills people.

Thank you for the replies. I will be talking to my daughter's LLMD this week.
