Hi I am positive for Lyme, babs, and now IGG bart. I had treatment now for 6 months. I had three months of IV Rocephin, and now on doryx 400 and levaquin (3 weeks). My gums constantly bother me along with my jaw and it is making me nuts.
I still have peripheral neuropathy too mostly in my lges and arms. Yes I have been to the dentist a million times. I had three implants two years ago with a sinus lift and this is where the gums are making me crazy. You know something is in there and will not leave.
Does anyone know which one of these lovely bugs attacks the gums or jaw. I do not know what to try next to get rid of it. I do not want to go back on IV. I cannot stay on doryx because of the sun much longer. Plus it is not helping anyway. Please help. Thanks

I test positive for Lyme and babesia only, but I know I have bartonella because rifampin is killing something - yet the jaw/teeth/gum symptoms remain. So I'm not sure which bug is to blame.
No matter how much magnesium I take (in the form of hemp seed protein - the only form I can tolerate), my teeth all wiggle, and I am definitely getting the RDA of magnesium with this supplement. If I take calcium, I don't believe it gets absorbed, because I taste chalk in my saliva.
Whatever it is, I've had this since I was little. I used to panic because my teeth would all feel loose in my gums periodically - maybe around the age of 10 or 11?
This is exactly what happens now. I hope I don't lose teeth - no dental insurance on disability. I also lost a significant amount of gum tissue - parts of my teeth that are supposed to be covered by gum are exposed.
I guess it doesn't matter anyway - my teeth are all destroyed from grinding away at them all these years anyway. I sawed off the tops of my bottom front teeth, and my top front teeth are chipped. Of course, this was all just "anxiety", according to my overpaid doctors. Yep.
I hope they end up with an income similar to mine one day, with brittle teeth, hair, bones, no dental insurance, no job, nothing.

Like Tailz, I also have loose teeth. I can wiggle them. It seems to come and go/off and on. I don't notice it every day but usually every other day.
I also have jaw pain/problems/TMJ.
Not sure if that is all due to lyme/co's or if it's due to clenching my teeth which I believe I do.

Does it happen more when you eat? Mine felt worse when I ate and as the day went on. I have lyme and babs. And bad teeth.
I personally think it is the lyme that bothers my TMJ (jaw), teeth and gums. Eating raw garlic in the evening (crushed and then wait 10 min before eating) seemed to help. Also found flossing and brushing a lot helps.

Hi No, it bothers me all day and all night The gum around my implants feels like it is dead..but shoots pain up in my gums. My jaw just kills me all the time.

Sounds like nerve pain. Maybe Neurontin or Lyrica would help?

Definitely nerve pain...like in teh rest of my body. I just cannot get it to stop. I really do not want to go back on IV...I hope there is something I can try next that will help. I will have to get off the doryx and levaquin soon because of the sun.

I have nerve pain too. My LLMd said it is the hardest pain to control - yeah, I know..driving me nuts too.
My jaw and teeth issue went away during the start of treatment on Amoxi later Biaxin was added.
The neuropathy goes on...

I just had a tooth extracted on Tuesday and I'm wearing a "denture" It's basically like a retainer with one tooth on it and I HATE it. It hurts and I have to wear it 24/7 for a week or so.
I can get a titanium implant in a month if I want to but I am SO scared to do it because it seems like we all have so many dental issues. I have pain for weeks with any little dental proceure. The major procedures cause excruciating long term pain.
I feel like just living with a gap but my daughter and husband disagree. (It's the first bicuspid so it's on the side of my mouth)
I guess I can just use the dreaded denture (eventually I will only have to wear it six hours a day to keep the space open) and then some day when I am healed do the implant.
What do you all recommend?
I don't hold my jaw properly so my TMJ is going wild, too.
Monica, Did you have your implant prior to or after contracting Lyme? I hope your issues resolve soon - I can totally relate.

Hi Mojo I had the implants right before the Lyme. I think the bugs just attack any kind of dental work. I hate the pain too and wish it would just stop. Keep me posted on what you decide and how you are feeling.

What do you use for pain? I am almost out of Tramadol (when real bad I combine with Tylenol). The dentist gave me Ibuprofin 600 which doesn't touch the pain. Last night was my first night without taking any Tramadol and I felt like throwing a party.

Might be something to investigate. I had the cavitat scan done and all was fine.

I've had lots of dental problems, but mine have been so different. Luckily, no pain, but sometimes my mouth, especially my gums, will throb.
Several times I've had the side of a tooth break off and twice the tooth broke off at gum level. I've lost count of how many crowns and bridges I have.
I avoid foods that would be a problem (like chewy, hard foods, etc). Sounds strange but sometimes I feel like I have to have something crunchy to chew. Maybe it's all in my mind - just knowing I shouldn't take the chance.
Don't know if my teeth are deteriorating from Lyme, Bartonella or Babesiosis.
I've found almost nothing on how TBDs can affect the teeth. Most of what I've found is about TMJ.
I think that I'd consider the dental problems my worst symptom at this time. I've told my dentist that I hope my teeth last as long as I do. Posted by fannou (Member # 15406) on :
My god, now i understand more why my fillings amalgams were bottering me so much and i felt like taking it out since 5 years, what i did in fall...
I thought it was a condequence of mercury intoxication, but even without it, im still agressed on these teeths...hard to explain, but i think some understand...now i see ...
I even have a big bone on my gum since two weeks, my dentist told me its notting bad,and after,i learn i was positive to all my stuff.
I also have a lot of broken teeths, yes grindig, but i understand now why some that i can not grind are broken...
I posted a mail about my pills on general support...i had no answer yet, could someone please answer me...
id would also like to know why some don't want to go back on iv, like u Monica, is it not better?

Hi Fannou I had to drive 50 minutes to the LLMD every day and be stuck with the IV...and have bad veins. I did this for three months and was completely traumatized.

Mojo-I had an implant put in after getting lyme. I didn't have any problems, and have no pain near the implant.
I did get swelling after the procedure, and couldn't take the steroid that the dentist recommended because of lyme.
But, the swelling went down within a few days. I have now had the implant for about 6 yrs.
