Anyone have any information about Meniers Disease being mis-diagnosed and it ending up as Lyme?

I have a friend who I have always wondered about her sx, and the possibility of them all being Lyme. I am not sure if there are links somewhere that can get me started on researching this for her.?

Also not sure of a master symptom list that would be easily _"emailable" for her..

any ideas???? [confused]

Thanks!
Laura

It sure could be. My mother had terrible problems with vertigo. I'm not sure she was ever given the Meniere's DX. She may have been.

All I know is that I'm sure she had Lyme. She was never tested.

IMO and experience, Meniere's can be as much of an umbrella dx as FM and CFS. It is the easy dx and it fits a box. I truly believe a Meniere's dx needs further exploration, in most cases.

Now it could be connected to a chemical or food sensitivity, but all avenues should be addressed.

In addition to considering lyme/TBI,

she might want to read some about Chlamydia pnemonia (Cpn) - see www.cpnhelp.org - the links all across the TOP of the home page.

Also to consider are HHV-6, HHV-7, and some of the other chronic stealth infections seen in the CFS population. Searching the CFIDS Association for their check-list of tests for infections would be a good thing. Immune Support . com ( www.immunesupport.com ) might have some articles.

- this is an EXCELLENT article and much can be learned even apart from the information about Cpn. It's also easier to read than many. The categories are well defined for visual ease and clarity and he backs up his words with 30 citations.

I was diagnosed with Menier's Disease May 2007, My only symptoms were tinnitus and hearing loss. I questioned the diagnosis at the time, wondering if I could have Lyme.

Last fall I developed other problems that finally sent me to a LLMD. I am waiting the results of my blood test.

If I have Lyme, I imagine that means the Menier's diagnosis was incorrect. I spoke to my EN&T DR again questioning the diagnosis of Menier's, she stood firm.

I will let you know what happens....
