Does anyone know the difference between NICO of jaw and osteomyelitis of jaw???
What is the cause of the NICO vs the osteomyelitis
And.....
HOW is Lyme, etc. involved???????
Or is it from an absessed tooth that was never taken care of properly, in time?
Has anyone been treated for either of the above?

This is what I learned during my journey to wellness:
OSTEOMYELITIS Osteomyelitis of the bone marrow, may be acute (short term, produces pus) or chronic (long term, minimal pus produced). Usually refers to marrow infection, but could be due to trauma, etc.
NICO (Neuralgia-Inducing Cavitational Osteonecrosis) The painful version of ischemic osteonecrosis of the jaws; the pain is often like a facial neuralgia. Cavitation refers to the very unique aspect of bone marrow "dry rot," the production of hollow spaces, often quite large.
NICO Lesion Neuralgia-inducing cavitational osteonecrosis, akin to osteomyelitis; a term often associated with jaw bone pathology.
The microbes move into the "contaminated" area and survive until dental infections are dealt with. Mercury depots, root canals, all are part of the problems.
Hope yours are minor and that you do not have any root canals (dead tooth producing toxins -mercaptans, thioethers).

I don't want to go on a tangent here but if you where ever considering hyperbaric oxygen therapy you could try and get your insurance carrier to approve the sessions for osteomylitis...
This is an approved condition under the UHMS guidelines. And it's the same protocol that is used for lyme.

Thanks Julia, that's funny, I was considering HBOT this morning!
I got a cone beam scan to rule out tooth crack (Gawd after all this time!)
Then I'll get some sort of NICO test.

Through all this, because of the pain, I did go for a root canal. (which did not work)
Now the bone scan can't tell if what is seen is the root canal or infectious.
There's been talk of biopsy of bone, extraction of tooth, plain old atypical trigeminal neuralgia, scraping for NICO.
I've been dealing with this face pain for years now.........I'm totally insane from it.
I'm very sure it's not psychological.
I should know more soon, to take a few more steps.
Considering IV abx and am also getting a new Fry test to see where I'm at w/babs and bart.

You need a cavitat scan. It's like a ultra sound for your mouth.
I had one done in Ohio by a great Dr. PM me if want any info.

Hi again,
If you are dx with osteo and decide to a hyperbaric facility do not mention lyme as a cause... now that they will chart it and the insurance carrier will use it as an excuse to deny the coverage when they reveiw it.
