Hi - go read Cody Willard's blog about getting bell's palsy/Lyme disease from a recent camping trip in upstate NY. He is starting treatment and will not be on the air for a while.

At the end of the blog, he says he wouldn't ask for any of the taxpayers' money to be spent for this disease. A couple of us have already posted comments about the two pending Lyme bills.

I posted at the blog before I saw this post.

I invited him here to chat with you all. Hope you don't mind?

BTW- If he visits... tell him he must have missed the bulletin stating news anchors aren't allowed to get Lyme disease.

Whenever they do, the IDSA's reputation goes a bit further down the drain.

Is he going public with this, meaning in his postion as anchorman to raise awareness?

Probably not.

My personal prediction is that if he gets better with no problems he'll forget about it and wonder what all of the fuss is about.

However, if he continues to have problems beyond the standard treatment he might speak out.

It's a shame to hear of another person with lyme disease, but I think this is really going to help get the lyme awareness ball rolling even faster.

Byron I agree with you; it is such a shame to hear another is infected with Lyme. Very sad! I haven't read anything about him yet, but even if he is being treated early with IV antibiotics; chances are he will still experience a pretty tough herx reaction.

I would think that this would be enough, (hopefully) to give him an interest and understanding as to the many that suffer with this disease. He may use his position to raise awareness!!?

Mind you, I don't wish anyone to suffer and experience the pain that comes with herxing!!! But I think y'all know what I mean.

Tincup, I think it is wonderful to invite him to this forum!!!! Not only will he have a better understanding of what he may be dealing with, but he'll definitly have a better understanding of what other are dealing with!

I do wish him the best!

I posted under the name Michael a few days ago. I talked about the studies on persistent infection, and so forth.
