Does anyone have a suggestion? If no suggestion for a tincture , how about a strong alternative capsule. Someone recently posted good results w/ the tincture , but had no name of the product so I can find it .

I am forced to self treat and I am certain I have babs .

I don't recall the tincture that someone recently said helped. Hopefully, they will come by and post that.

--------

the one I am aware is from PRL in Tennessee

I'll look on a bottle in my cabinet and come back with details.

It may not be artemisinin but, rather, artemesia. Not exactly the same in regards to strength.

I am also not sure a tincture would be strong enough dose. However, being able to adjust dosage would be good at the beginning.

Strength and combination treatment are both important aspects of babesia treatment. Mono-therapy has a higher failure rate.

The PRL tincture I used (for a while) was a combination.

If also on flagyl (or generic) the alcohol drops of a tincture might be too much and you would have to use a capsule form of art. instead.

==================

I cannot find a web site for PRL itself. I will PM their direct phone number to you.

Annxyz and Hoosiers:

I sent you both PMs with all the answers and more links.

Hey, never apologize because all the clues have not come your way. This is a very difficult position to be in with a great deal of information to sift and sort.

BOOK: Lyme Disease and Modern Chinese Medicine

An alternative treatment strategy developed by Zhang Clinic has been published by Dr. Qingcai Zhang and Yale Zhang of SinoMed Research Institute.

[Dr. Weil says]: This is a comprehensive book on the cause and treatment of Lyme disease using modern Chinese medicine, which I have found to be a better option than Western medicine for this difficult infection.

Lyme disease is becoming more frequent in many parts of the world, is frequently misdiagnosed, and often resists treatment with antibiotics alone. Here is a new and hopeful way of looking at the disease and its management.

- Dr. Andrew Weil, Harvard Medical School graduate and a leading figure in the field of alternative medicines

--

From what I have read to date, the authors have done an outstanding job with combining traditional Chinese medicine and Western medicine together.

Scott Mulliken, N.D.

From her own experiences, Dr. Virginia Sherr, M.D. wrote:

Tell your colleagues that Chinese medicine might be one way to help enhance the clinical outcomes of Lyme treatment.

Annxyz : I forgot to mention that if Artemesinin can be harder to tolerate for those with a liver that is stressed.

Art. utilizes the liver detox pathway, Cytochrome P-450.

Many with lyme (especially if they have multiple chemical sensitvities) have deficiencies of the necessary enzymes for the C P-450 pathyway to metabolize certain types of chemicals (and that includes some foods and OTC products, too).

I know you said you have to self-treat and I'm so sorry for that. Many of us here do and that is simply a sad reality. Still, you may be able to borrow some DVDs from your local lyme support group.

You might be able to borrow other books from them as well.

AND you MUST have support for your liver. Milk thistle is just one. It can help your liver make some of the necessary enzymes and help the treatments work better for you. Still, it's not magic.

If you ever feel that anything you do is too hard on your body, back off. Don't ride through a horrible "herx" as it may be more than that. A "herx" can indicate that the liver can't keep up and one result can be excess porphyrins that, themselves, can kill cells. Beta Carotene is just one help with this.

more about that can be found at www.cpnhelp.org/secondaryporphyria

There are always alternate ways.

And there is a lot of hope around the use of light therapy with the Bionic 880 or Lightworks (GiGi, Marnie, Sparkle7, and many others are posting lots about that lately. Marnie's posts are very educational so you can search for her threads.)

I hope you can find the information you need to guide you safely. And, perhaps, someone at your local support group can guide you to a doctor who may work out for you - or you might see if that doctor could do a lecture, etc.

In addition to Dr. Z's book, you might enjoy reading Buhner's "Healing Lyme" - even if you don't use such supplements, there is a great deal of knowledge there.

Kenneth Singleton, MD "The Lyme Disease Solution" is also very good. Amazon carries them all and you can read customer reviews.

Best of luck. Take care.

Annxyz - your mailbox is full.

In answer to your question, artemesia is not the same as artemisinin. Artemisinin is an extract, of sorts, and much stronger.

Artemesia tincture, while stronger than the raw herb is not as strong as artemisinin.

A tincture is stronger than raw herb.

An extract is stronger than a tincture.

Thanks Keebler and Others . I so appreciate the help !

I agree with not allowing the herxes to be too severe . Frankly , I can not tolerate the depression that paralyzes me when the herxes are too intense.

If anyone has a Name of an extract or tincture
that is good, please suggest .
