I am on IV rocephin with mepron/zith.After 5 days of that combo, the fatigue and weakness is unmanagable.Since leg weakness was my primary sympthon, this is a big problem, stop the mepron yesterday,,and feel a little more alert and stronger today, should I restart or cut back dosage?taking 1 tsp ,2x's a day,and 500mg zith daily.

I think you should ask your LLMD before making a decision to stop any ABX.

When Mepron/Zith fights Babs, you tend to feel like you've been hit by a bus. The weakness & fatigue are typically crushing. I spent most of my first month of it in bed sleeping.

I think it is best to try to rest as much as possible, taking daily naps if you can.

I would recommend a call to your doctor for advice on this one. Perhaps s/he might tell you to lower the dose a little temporarily.

Sorry you're feeling so lousy. [Frown]

PS-Also make sure you are drinking plenty of water to flush out the toxins!

I have a LOT of fatigue on Mepron/Zith too. I am planning on just continuing on with it, though I question that decision every day!!!!!!!!

I would keep taking it until you talk to your doc, maybe he will be able to give you a really good reason to stay on it. You don't want to make a hasty decision.

I just want to let you know that I feel where you are coming from....I stay home all day and am completely incapacitated right now from this treatment. But, I know when I go off this will go away, and maybe I will have even made some improvements....that's the goal at least!

Just don't compromise your long term treatment if you don't have to. Best of luck.

I had severe leg weakness from Babesiosis. The only thing that helped was treating it, but it took time.

I agree with the others about calling your doctor.

My son was treated with Rocephin IV's and also
with Mepron/Zith. But not simultaneously.

He flared a lot on the Mepron and I can't imagine
doing the two together. You doctor may have a
specific reason for this approach, but it would
be too much for us.

I lean toward focusing on the rocephin and doing a course of mepron/zith. You can discuss it with your doctor.

sorry you are going through so much!

for the first 4 days,I too felt no effects of mepron,I read 98% of users have some side effects, thought I was in that2%,,,,until day 5,I hit a wall thar day.Since then I dropped the dose, and feel like I'm tolerating it better.
