So...how bad can Lyme and/or treatment mess up hormones?

I'm currently taking Mepron and Levequin...I took Rocephin and Zithro for years...and have paused those meds while I treat the babs. and bartonella.

I'm currently have HORRIBLE night sweats and hot flashes. Wondering if I'm starting early menopause at 32? I wouldn't think it possible but my mother started Menopause at age 35.

I guess I'm just wondering if this could be from my meds or just straight up from my Lyme?

my doc said i was having night sweats. i asked him the same thing. he said hot flashes start in your chest and create a red flush which goes up to your neck and sort of feels like a fire.

mine is heavy perspiration which he said is lyme.

sigh...

Did you have the night sweats while you were on treatment?

I just had my second baby about 5 months ago and I COULD still be messed up from that but I don't really think thats it...

Naomi, endocrine instability seems to be my main problem with Lyme. Supposedly, the right treatments will restore hormonal balances but not for everyone.

Night sweats could be Babs still, right? Maybe.

It could also be a side effect of the Mepron.

It can cause fever, sweating, and flu like syndrome.

Lyme can cause a false menopause. It did it to me--totally stopped my production of female hormones. It was horrible. Every gyn I went to said it was menopause. I was on hormone replacement therapy big time. I really needed it.

Then, under my 3rd lyme doc, I got rid of my lyme, babs, and bart--and menopause!

But, this didn't happen the 1st 2 years I was treated for lyme. It only happened with successful treatment by my 3rd doc. As the lyme went away, so did the menopause symptoms, until I was back to pre-menopausal.
