I recently had blood taken and sent away to Igenex to look for chronic babs.

My question is, how long does it take for the test results to come in?

Thanks

Usually two to three weeks...

A couple weeks, but don't be surprised or disappointed if the results come back negative. There are a number of strains beyond Microti causing illness, and Babesia has become a clinical diagnosis in many cases, just like Lyme Disease.

Be aware of that.

If it comes back negative, test through Fry Labs.

You can still have babs with a negative test.

I wish I would've known more about the high incidence of negatives with IGenix for the Babesia test before I shelled out $195 for the Babesia FISH test a month ago. [Frown]

My doctor seemed to accept the result as gold though.

Follow Lymetoo's advice. Go with Fry if the results are negative. Get a smear too.

WAIT, what?! The Babs FISH test is a lot more expensive than that. It's $500! I paid that much and it turned out negative. HUGE waste of money.

Wow, 2 weeks ago I had to make out a check for 605.00 for Igenex. I failed to ask the doc. what the tests were for. He also send blood to 2 other labs as well. Can't wait to see those bills.

Remember that testing for co-infections is about as accurate as Lyme testing.

Igenex Fish only tests for 2 of the 13+known strains.

Mine was negative. I am on my 3rd round of babesia treatment.

My LLMD diagnosed me on symptoms.

Hugs,

Geneal
