Swimming with a picc line in a public pool is not a good idea! That picc line needs to remain dry and clean.

There are covers that puff up, but my home health nurse said they were a bad idea as she has seen them actually pull the line out.

I gyencological vet gloves that went up to my shoulder when I showered.

they dont pull the line out unless you are not careful. i had a line and a cover for 9 months, swam and showered whenever i was able.

i got mine from a local pharmacy, honestly they have the best i have found yet.

i did not use an inflatable one, just one that is clear plastic, elastic almost, and when i would swim it was tight enough fit around my arm that no water would get in.

you do have to be very careful though, and if its a kid, i could see why hiker is concerned. i was VERY careful. no kidding around in the pool, etc.

good luck

Our llmd said no swimming with a PICC line. It is not worth the risk of an infection. Have you considered a port?
