For years and years, i would have episodes where i would wake up about 30 minutes after falling asleep in a panic. I would start running through the house, just trying to get somewhere, where i don't know. I would be yelling for my husband to help me. there were times he had to basically restrain me. I would sometimes have these episodes durinig the day.

my son seems to have the same thing. If he goes to bed with socks on (weird, yes), i can pretty much guarantee he will wake up in 30 minutes crying. He has awaken in the night running through the house yelling for me.

Here is the weird thing. these night time panic attacks stopped for me when i started treatmenr with abx. After being off abx for several months i had another night time incident.

I always considered them 'bad dreams'. but the more i think about it and seeing how my son responds the same way as me (he has lyme too) i'm wondering if they are actually panic attacks?

Is it possible to have a panic attack in your sleep? Has anyone else experienced this?

Yes. My panic attacks began in my sleep and were frequent. I would be sleeping soundly only to be jolted awake by unbearable panic/anxiety.

ps definately TBI related

I am another one that had this symptom. My worst panic attacks were really happening while sleeping and would wake me up with that racing heart and panic like I had never had before in my life.

It has settled down with treatment, although I do still have a form of anxiety still going on, but not that horrid horrid stuff waking me up at night.

I was treated for bart, lyme and babs and can't recall which med I was on when I realized it was easing up.

My heart goes out to you since it's a really horrid feeling.

I also had that and it has gotten much better w/treatment.

I know mine wasn't due to any meds because it was happening before I was on anything before I got diagnosed so I believe it's from Lyme.

It was one of my worst symptoms. I hope it never comes back.

i don't know if it's panic attacks or not but i will wake up sweating like crazy, my heart racing and my head pounding. i feel like i'm going to pass out.

i don't remember any dreams tho so i guess it could be.

i do know my neck feels hotter than heck at night tho.

I would wake up in the middle of the night in the middle of a panic attack with my arms and legs already moving about like I was swimming. It was the scariest feeling.

I think mine were bart related. At the time I was undiagnosed and thought I was losing my mind.
