A couple days ago I started having pain in my pelvic area. It was a dull, achey sort of pain.
Anyway, today I'm still in pain and on top of that I'm having UTI symptoms. I feel like I have to pee constantly (even when I don't have to), my lower back is hurting, and my pelvic area is still hurting.
I'm making an appt. with my gyno first thing tomorrow. I'm trying to figure out what it could be. Normally I would think that it was definitely a UTI, but I'm on amoxicillin and doxycyline.
So my question is can you get a UTI while on abx?
Thanks!!

Yes you can..Have your Gyno take a sample,(urine,or swab)..Some of the ABX that target Lyme don't necessarily have an effect on UTI's..I had a UTI that was diagnosed as "serratia marcescens", which is normally an in-dwelling infection due to being catheterized,or having an IV attached with the infection coming from "the lines" (I had neither).. The Dr. prescribed "Omnicef". the ABX for Lyme+Co. were halted until the next sample "was clean"... (Error in this post regarding ABX prescribed-the actual ABX was Bactrim, as opposed to Omnicef).Hope this didn't confuse anyone)

As others have said, yes you can. You can also get a yeast infection which can cause you to feel like you have a bladder infection.

Ok.. thanks everyone. I'm going to the gyno asap.
I started amox and doxy on Thursday and haven't gotten new probiotics yet. I've been just relying on yogurt. I know I need to start taking those again immediately.
