This is a rash similar to what I had last summer on my back - then my chest.

Now it is much larger and intense. The rash covers my entire topside of the arm and is at times purple in color - burns.

The little bumps itch like crazy and have fluid in them. This has been going on for a week now and involves my hands and fingers now.

Have not tested for co-infections yet. I've been on Doxy 400mg/day for 7 1/2 weeks.

Does anyone know what this is?
What should I be treating my skin with?
Only use Aloe Vera Gel so far.

Will there be permanent discoloration from this?

Could it be fungus?

I have no idea. It looks like shingles, but a bigger case of it.

I have an appointment with my LLMD later this week but in the meantime I called and talked to the nurse and she told me to stop the abx until I see him.

This concerns me. I suspect I have co-infections esp. Bart.

Does die-off ever cause this type of skin problem?

So now I'm not on any abx. I thought things were going so well. [Frown]

I saw my LLMD today -
My problem was a big time reaction to the sun exposure while on Doxy. He switched me to Biaxin 500mg 2/daily.
Geeeze - I was using spf 50 even!

OUCH...

So sorry to hear you had this occur. NOT fun. And chances are it could happen again.

Do know that just because you are off doxy does not mean you are ok.

It can take months to get back to "normal" so do keep paying attention to your skin and any reactions due to the sun.

OK?

Hope it clears up soon and you are more comfortable.

Geeze...Tincup - thanks for telling me! The Doc didn't say anything about this and well - I'm in sunny California.

Really hard to stay out of the sun - and even in the shade - and through the windows of the car!

But this has been rough, I itch like crazy and my scratching has really messed up my skin.

I'll try to avoid the sun.

Thanks,
Peedie

Hi Peedie-

Citrus of any type can make the Sun Burn effect
much worse when on Doxi-
Even Tiny amounts- google Photo Toxic-

Cranberries can cause same effect too--jay--

Ps the skin damage is perminate so be careful

Peedie...

I have the same sun problem from not knowing... and also unavoidable contact with the sun's rays.

If you are interested, please email me and I will share the contact information of a place that makes some "stuff" that really helps- they compound it and it is their own formula. You can speak to them and they can ship you the product.

It is also the best thing I've found for mosquito bites, tick bites, chiggers... and even bad spider bites and poison ivy.

Several people here have ordered it and used it and all are very pleased.

No, I don't sell it or have any interest in it. I just know it is a great product and there seems to be none better from what I can find.

It is less than $10.00 and is worth every penny when you itch and are miserable.
