My 19 year old daughter started this today. Is it possible to herx after one dose?

Yes.

Is she taking this as part of a protocol from her doctor or as part of Dr. Z's protocol?

If with Dr. Z's protocol, it is not a stand-alone and AI#1 and Circulation P should accompany it and allicin, too.

If added as a suggestion from her doctor, you can ask for suggestions.

Good luck.

I didn't know that AI#1 was used during Babs Tx, but I guess, if Herxing, that makes sense.

I started with Allicin & Artemesiae, added to the Biaxin that I was on, and it REALLY wiped me out.

The AI#3 takes down the immune response and, now that I'm thinking about it, I may have taken one dose. I think I then re-read about cutting the dosage in half temporarily & did that for a couple of days until things settled down a little bit.

How long has your DD had Lyme?

What are the Sx that you suspect may be a Herx?

Is it a worsening of existing symptoms or new ones?

On the Dr. Z protocol, AI#1 is used to help calm down a herx response. However, if used as part of another LLMD's treatment, there may already by something in place for that purpose.

excerpt:

Muscle aches, fibromyalgia, skin rashes, allergies, vasculitis, and severe Herxheimer reaction

AI #3 Capsules should be used. If these symptoms are severe, dosage can be increased to five capsules per day and the dose should be two in the morning, one at noon and two in the evening.

Once the symptoms are reduced, the dose should be reduced to one capsule three times a day. And once reaction symptoms have passed, AI #3 Capsules should be discontinued.

This herbal remedy is used for down-regulating humeral immunity, suppressing autoimmune reactions, and suppressing inflammation.

Thanks for the response.

She has been ill for 5 years. Third time babs has returned. Dr. H NY has her taking the art. She feels increase weakness and "lungs feel weak" I iwill look into the suggestions.

She is suppose to take 1 three times a day but wonder if she should not take this much.

Is the AI#1 suppose to calm down the herx?

Is the AI#1 suppose to calm down the herx? Yes.

But I had a hard time on artemesinin anyway. I sure hope this improves for her.

At artemisinin uses the liver detox pathway Cytochrome P-450, I wonder if liver support would help (if she is not already doing that)?

Many with lyme don't manufacture all the needed enzymes for this pathway and excess porphyrins can result and that can be very much like a strong herx itself.

What helped me tolerate this better was schizandra extract. Hepapro has that, too. And you can read about it at PubMed or The One Earth Herbal Sourcebook.

SCHISANDRA BERRY (Schisandra chinensis) (also spelled Schizandra)

* Male mice that received diets containing 5% schisandra berries exhibited a threefold increase in the important liver cytochrome P-450 antioxidanti system (Hendrich et al., 1983).

Equally important is the enhancing effect of schisandra on the status of liver mitochondria in rats (Ip et al., 1998).

Thanks Keebler. i will try to read it when I am able. I have Lyme too.

She is taking milk thistle and doing a aloe/chlorphyl drink.

How often do you take the AI#1?

She's not taking mepron is she? Milk thistle lowers mepron levels so that's usually not a good idea.
