Hi,

I've read a few ppl say that they have coverage for bicillin shots. I have cigna PPO and they won't cover it under pharmacy benefits, and I'm trying to have the doc that administers the shots give me a claim form for their direct purchase from the manufacturer, but they barely covered that too.

I thought I had very good insurance. How is everyone getting bicillin covered?

thanks,
joey

I have Cigna PPO insurance with a pharmacy plan under Caremark. I order bicillin through Caremark and it is delivered through the mail. My copay is $25 for a 3 month supply of bicillin.

What's strange is that if I go to my local pharmacy and order it there I get charged $45 for a ONE month supply! This is why I do the mail order...it is a lot cheaper.

My Cigna insurance covered IM Bicillin LA under a MEDICAL BENEFIT not a pharmacy benefit. Alot of IM meds are covered under a medical benefit not a pharmacy benefit.

Call Cigna and speak to someone in specialty pharmacy regarding the Bicillin being covered under a medical benefit. You may have to talk with several people before you get someone who knows what is going on. Insist on them checking if it is covered under a medical benefit NOT a pharmacy benefit. You may also call the Cigna mail order to check coverage status.

Mine was sent to me in the mail via cold chain distribution through Cigna speciality pharmacy.

thanks guys!!!

If only I'd known this before... I've spent about $1000 out of pocket on bicillin. Now it should be 100% covered through the tel-drug program (via medical benefits you're right!) This definitely takes some digging, so hopefully others can save time/money with this info
